Umm, well, now you ask: how much time do they devote to their sex life? What happens if she becomes preggers?

How , for that matter, IS sex in that kind of playpen?

We try and have sex every day, I always make sure she finishes before I do otherwise she will not let me sleep haha. As for her getting pregnant she has a 'norplant', one of those things in her arm that stops her from getting pregnant. Its worked for a few months so far so good. She has said if she did get pregnant then she would abort at the moment while she is studying which is perfect but I have my doubts if it actually happened.

Oh, now you've done it.

Watch the flame from old bitter "Farang" cometh yer way.

I know they envy you, however, do not discount their opinion. You are young and can get away with many things, but don't forget..... your girlfriend has a mouth and probably talks with her friends and family. There is always a story from that "other girl" that is dating a "Farang" and he is oh so very generous with her. And those facebook pictures of where they travel!

Anyway, enjoy while it lasts. I wist I came to Thailand when I was your age.

As has been said before if you are happy living like this ,great , to me it would be existing , and as we are only on this planet for a short time i soon realizec that i would never be remembered in history and they were never going to put up statues to me , so i ensured that at least while i was here i was going to make it as comfortable as i could with lots of nice things ,luckily i was able to do this , so while the money and my health lasts i am bloody well going to enjoy it , by the way our bedroom is bigger than the op,s studio .

Yeah it definitely feels like surviving with the little fun we get in our lives but its just a stage in our life and hopefully were come out of it much better soon. I envy the richer people on this forum that have posted about their luxury life compared to mine. I'll get their soon :D

I can beat that.

I live in my GF townhouse and pay 0 baht for rent, zero baht for electricity and zero baht for internet (I use everything extensively).

She even bought me a new mattress top the other day because I was complaining about the back pain.

She also does the cleaning for free and won't even let me wash the laundry because "I don't know how".

As for my monthly breakdown, I am not sure. It varies because it sucks living on a strict budget. One month it's more the other it's less.

So you give her money to pay for electricity or she has a decent salary ?

I think this shows that it's possible to live on a very tight budget if you have the dicipline to do it. I only pay 7000 for my condo and have saved a lot of money since moving to Thailand. And some of my friends pay 22000 for the same size condo , I don't think itmakes them happier, but if they can afford it good for them.

It's good to see that you're aiming higher for the future. Living as you do temporarily--especially at your age--is certainly doable. Might even be fun...for awhile. I may have done some of that back in the day. But at my age (50+), no way I could live like that.

Well, kudos to the op for posting however he is forced to live like this due to no money.

The argument that everything is close by is ridiculous because this is poverty at it's finest and by his own admission he has no choice.

Seriously, you have to ask yourself the sense of these people moving to Thailand and living like a rat in a cage?

This is not living, this is barely surviving, even for students.

The worst thing is, it doesn't get any better when she finishes school.

I call this desperation living.

Sooner or later the hardships of not having any money come crashing down and it all ends.

I wonder if the OP thinks his GF wants to live like this forever.

Misery loves company

and how do you think young un-employed people and students live in the Western countries. The same way on a bare minimum.

How do you think many retired, all their lives working and paying government, but got screwed are living back home or in Thailand.

Not sure which country you are from, but if it is USA, you're republican (just too bad Bernie or Hillary will be 2016 president)

The above is clearly a post from a already solid financial mom/dad, had all financial opportunities given to him and has never been poor for 1 day in his life.

You shouldn't envy them, they actually envy you. Your life is just starting and are already living an adventure AND creating a future.

The (old) "rich" geezers here are mostly miserable and jealous.

They have 3 thing to look forward to everyday.

1. The 8.00/8.30 first ThaiVisa NewsLetter (or the afternoon one if he's a daily drunk)

2. Breakfast out of a bottle or soon after.

3. Which hooker/bar today? Let me check my supply of viagra first.

OP, go for it. It seems you got a good head on your shoulder, especially considering your youth/parents situation.

Actually, after 25 long (4-6weeks) holidays in 14 years and now living here 12+ years, I have seen all the bullshit, but have also seen good things and as a farang with more Thai friend than farang friends (1), I have seen enough. I grant the limited experience to ONLY Pattaya <deleted> but I live and spend 95% of my time in the good Thai parts.

I go out for a real farang drink maybe 2-3 times a month and meet farangs in farang area's (not tourist area's, but longterm farang area's), always the same people. Since I might be there only 3 times a month, but I always see them, it is fair to say they are daily there and most always pissed or going out to girly bars and get more pissed (and viagra).

And yes, I also do see many of "your" older guys types, 45-60 years old. Mostly divorced, with kids (most grown up).

They come to Thailand, nice younger girl, she is different, not same same.

Ohh Sorry farang I have baby inside, <deleted>, I forget tablet and you no condom.

At 45-50-55-60 YO farangs starting a new family again. Go and ask how many of them planned that.

Then go ask how many of the girlfriends planned that, not that you will get an honest answer.

Don't pretend that these guys are happy. I am sure some are, but they are the exception. Many take responsibility for their own <deleted> to make the girl pregnant (if it even is his) and are stuck, but not happy.

Sometimes for dinner with no food in the house, go to small market, but 2 cans sardines 40 baht, 5 eggs 20 baht for omellette with steamed rice. 60 baht for 3 adults and 1 4 yr. old. This doesn't happen often. OK in a pinch.

If you've got a Tesco Lotus there's canned fish in two places (at least in the three stores I've seen), one normal shelf and then a bulk buy shelf near the bulk buy rice. 2014 prices 106 baht (I think) for ten cans of the Value sardines. In actual fact the purple ones with the smiling fish on the side are better value at about 130 for ten because i) it's a ring pull, and ii) there's more fish/protein in the can. At around 167 baht you can get ten of the uber-spicy SeaLect ones with the veg in the can, but I think the "smiling fish" ones with a chopped bird chilli thrown in are better value.

Most things are what you think they are. Sticking a 13 baht can of fish and a spoon in your pocket, buying a big ten baht bag of rice, and whipping the fish into the rice is.............................economizing laugh.png

If you can find a way to carry the b********d tray Tesco is also the place for cheap eggs. They do a really massive impossible-to-lift grey cardboard tray of eggs for very little money.

The two other...................economical....Tesco products are the peanuts and the tubes of tofu. Something like 40 baht and 6.5 baht. I reckon.

There are very few poor countries where it's possible to eat so well for so little. A massive rice with loads of tofu through it, and a flotilla of fish and eggs sailing on that ocean of khao...............mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. clap2.gif

The thing I found surprising was just how many of them really liked their kids. They might not be that keen on the missus, but they really like their kids.

Blimey. 13 baht cans of fish and 10b bags of rice.

When I get home I take whatever coins are in my pocket and chuck them into a big box. Give it to some homeless lad when it fills up.

As if it's worth using coins in Thailand. Notes only in the wallet. The rest gets chucked away.

OHH, definitely, I agree. Most are good people and what to do what is right, just impossible together with the Mum and as always the kid gets played as leverage. that is why they got pregnant in the first place, because they know farang men are better then their Thai men when it comes to kids (I am NOT generalizing). How many farangs take care of the ex-Thai husband/BF's kid or even ex- farangs kid.

Yeah, but as Will Self said, "Food's just sh*t waiting to happen". It's also the case that for a lot of people eating out is simply a socially acceptable way to have servants. I've just managed ten 45kph efforts on the Wattbike with one minute recoveries. At fiftyclap2.gif !!! I jacked at 25 minutes on Monday, so today was the rematch, and I feel <deleted> brilliant.

Now the lazy man's route to feeling like a player is to spend some money, but if that worked lazy men would be happier. wai2.gif

You can only define yourself by what you do. Self-mastery, a book, a really well-crafted online post.........there are lots of alternatives, by buying things doesn't do it. I've got more dough than I'll ever need and my employer is offering a wedge to sod off, but I know that it's meaningful activity that stops you going barking. If shlepping about and spending money worked it would have worked for lots of people already. The results of the experiment are in. It doesn't work. smile.png

You can understand why so many Farang get snookered in Thailand.

They have no understanding of basic accounting, because they have no education, only vocational "training".

Income minus expenses equals Net Income.

The less your expenses, the higher your net income.

The concept sounds simple, yet...555+

I hate to break it to you but I could live in Bangkok for the cost of my Krapow Moo for lunch.

Yes I could survive for months on 60 Baht per day and enjoy a wonderful lifestyle surpassing the digital nomad existence....swimming each day in the pool....enjoying the gym and sitting on my 30th floor balcony enjoying some camomile tea.

Ahh its wonderful to have options though!

I have to disagree with you, 5 years ago I moved from super tight budget as i was stingy and than a huge transformation happened to me, I suddenly started to earn 6 figure income since i was getting more when I was investing more, living cheap is very dangerous for the moral.

it will make an individual poorer with time as his quality will start to degrade by living isolated among the poor and get less con acts and less social powers, my brother s insisting on living frequently in Singapore paid off as he s extremely wealthy now, if he chosen to live tightly and cheaply somewhere he would get the level of success he had now.

living in a wealthy condominium building in Bangkok brought me an immense success because I met 3 of my business partners there and had a neighbor who became a very valuable customer, the 40K rent I was paying which I considered an investment was too low comparable to the benefits I managed to make meeting all those valuable investors and customers.

Rent 1250 /month?

Is that for an air con rabbit hutch?

You can get a furnished fan room for 2000 baht in Phuket, if you would bother to look around properly. This is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum location wise.
