Min of Energy to spend 10bil. baht on energy conservation

BANGKOK, 15 October 2015 (NNT) - The Ministry of Energy will expedite its energy conservation plan, which it expects will boost the Thai economy and the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SME).

Energy and Policy Planning Office Director Thawarat Sutabut said the Energy Conservation Promotion Fund Committee has endorsed a budget allocation of 10.1 billion baht for an energy conservation plan in 2016.

The Thai economy and SMEs will directly benefit from the plan, which is aimed at improving the efficiency of energy consumption, finding sources of alternative energy and improving energy management.

The Energy Conservation Promotion Fund Committee has also set aside a budget for public relations campaigns, to promote the importance of saving energy.

You want to save money and conserve energy?

Set the thermostats in ALL government buildings, shopping malls etc to come on at 28C instead of 22C.

You can have this idea for free.

This is part of the second paragraph "finding sources of alternative energy".

Yes I know Thailand has solar farms but one house owner is not legally allowed to produce their own electricity whilst connected to the grid.

How do I know, I spent a couple of hours at the Local PEA talking to the boss. Maybe there was another way than talking but of course I prefer them to realise home roof top solar power could help them. The investment is by the homeowner, the homeowner is possibly a larger user of power than most others, there is no need for a subsidy, just maybe a tax break on the imported equipment etc. Pretty cheap I reckon to take out the higher users of the electricity all over Thailand all for free almost.

10.1 billion baht for a plan (to become more efficient)?

Then they'll need more funding to implement it. And still more funding to determine how successful it was.

Whose bright idea was that?
