ANG THONG: -- Ang Thong provincial police last night seized a Thai neighbour in Saraburi province after he was suspected to kill the aged Japanese businessman in his house in Ang Thong province on Tuesday.

he man was identified as Samphand Jaemjang, 46, a neighbour of the Japanese victim Kazuo Yoshioka.

Ang Thong police said Samphand is an elder brother of Ms Poranee Napadol, the wife of Mr Yoshioka.

Samphand left his home in Ang Thong suspiciously after the murder was revealed. He left his motorcycle 500 metres from home.

Samphand was questioned at a safe house after his arrest at a petrol station in Saraburi and he was reported to have confessed to killing the Japanese man who was his brother-in-law.

But he said he was hired to kill the Japanese Businessman by his Thai wife who is also his sister.

The police were escorting him back to Vises Chaicharn district in Ang Thong province for further questioning.

They also will summon Ms Poranee for questioning after her brother confessed that she paid him to kill her Japanese husband.

The 83-year-old Japanese was found dead Tuesday morning at a rented two-storey home in Vises Chaicharn district of Ang Thong province.

His throat was slashed and he was found dead inside his bedroom.

According to his Thai wife, Ms Poranee Napadol, she was not at home but went to visit her mother who was suffering from kidney sickness.

When she returned home, she found that her house was ransacked and her husband was found lying dead in pool of blood inside the ransacked bedroom.

Duty police officer Pol Lt Ratakit Khaokaen and a team of investigators inspected the house located in a large area found blood traces in front of her neighbour house and a blood stained scissor inside the dust bin in front of the house.

A neighbour Mrs Sompong Napadol told police that her husband, Samphand, has disappeared from home since last night leaving only his motorcycle 500 metres from home.

Fairly standard case of a foreigner living upcountry with a lo-so Thai woman he met in a bar. The wife, her Thai husband and siblings get fed up that he is not giving them enough money and is living far too long and bingo they cut his throat or beat him to death.

Far better to rent daily. If you must marry a bar girl, don't live upcountry with her and certainly don't live anywhere near her family or Thai husband.

If she had a Thai husband how would they be married then?

Common law marriages are not recognized in Thailand therefore her Thai "husband" would in fact be her BF

@ ianf: is this enough evidence?

  • "They will summon Ms Poranee for questioning after her brother confessed that she paid him to kill her Japanese husband".
  • "he said he was hired to kill the Japanese Businessman by his Thai wife who is also his sister".

@ Soutpeel: i dont think its necessary for anyone here to have personal experience of this.

if you have lived in thailand long enough, you will read these stories quite often in the news and hear about them from conversations with others.

Not in Thailand, in fact not in Asia.

Many marriages in Thailand are what we would call common law affairs, some get a rudimental blessing at the Wat and some don't. In the years I lived in S.E.A there were many occasions where Thai women would have a foreign husband as a supplier of money for her family. There are also many who only have a farang husband and they live happily together. Have to say though that a lot of Thai girls who choose the older man option do get a shock at how long we tend to live

So much speculation without any evidence. My guess is that the brothers statements are completely true but assuming she had another husband or bf is presumptuous at best. It's just as likely she wanted his life insurance and belongings and she promised her brother much of the 'profit' from the crime.

Wow, so many of you must have been scorned so badly. Methinks some need to pick their ladies better.

I smelled it yesterday already that this guy was killed because someone can't wait for him to expire. As someone said yesterday in the other post which young chick wants to ride a 80 year ++ c..k for a few Baht a month. The Japanese surely didn't pay her a premium for the ride (2000x30 Days = 60,000 Baht a month) so she wanted to get out of it.

Have to agree, these incidents although tragic do not occur every day as some would have you believe.

I and several of my friends have Thai wives and are perfectly happy, I expect that we are in the majority.

It is ridiculous to demonize all Thai women due to the actions of a very small minority.

Correct many of those large age gap relations are not love. Its about money and if they find a way to get the money faster (death) it will happen.

Though of course there are relations with a large age gap that do work. Its just not the norm.
