Retirement visa

Featured Replies

Am planning on getting retirement visa in March 2016, will be then returning to UK end of March. Will return to Thailand the following October, will the re entry permit cover this length of time I will be outside Thailand.

Cheers.

An "extension of stay based on retirement" (not a visa) is valid for one year.

Once you have the extension a re-entry permit will allow an exit/return at any time during the extensions period of validity.

Yes - but it will not add to your new March/April 2017 expiration date - just allow you to return to use until then and extend again.

A re-entry permit is valid for the length of the permit to stay it issued for.

If you are applying for an extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon retirement at an immigration office the re-entry permit would be valid until Marsh of 2017.

Joe, can you just confirm one thing for me, one year stay extension married to a thai national, you can show 400,000bt in the bank for two months prior to application, OR, an income of 40,000bt per month. I have the money deposited, so that's the financial side ok?

You could, while you are back in your home country, prior to returning to Thailand, obtain a non imm o-a multi entry visa. If worked correctly, this visa could get you almost two years before you needed to deal with money in the bank issues etc.

Cheers, but I was thinking of doing the extention. Needed to know if the 400,000 was all that's needed.

The 400k baht in the bank for 2 months is all you need.

Cheers mate.

Your original post mentioned retirement extension but now you are talking about marriage extension. For my marriage extension I have to wait a month after applying whilst it is 'under consideration' which may interfere with your plans to apply in March then return to UK at the end if the month. Not sure if this has changed recently or varies depending on where you apply but sure UJ can clarify.

Didn't mention when I opened the topic that it was an extension based on marriage.

Assuming, then, that you will be switching from marriage to retirement next March, just make sure that your wife comes along with you then since Immigration may ask her to assure them specifically that she has no problems with the switch.

Is it acceptable at CM immigration to have the passbook and letter from the bank to be dated the day before the application is made?
