“Support Assad” T-shirts are latest ‘must have’ fashion in Russia

Russia’s Defence MInistry is whipping up public enthusiasm for the country’s intervention in Syria.

It’s issued “T shirts emblazoned with a support Assad slogan and a picture of a Russian war plane.

At 20 euros they are not cheap…. but according to Russian web forums they’ve been flying off the shelves.

The shop owner says its a chance to show solidarity with the fight against Islamist extremists but its not the first time so-called political fashion has taken off in Russia. After the annexation of Crimea T-shirts were printed with a photo of President Putin.

Because Shiites are more open about their position. They come out and say they hate the US. The Saudis pretend to be our friends when they probably hate the US more. Plus Sunnis are isis.

Wait a minute. The way I view this is simply Russians showing support for their troops not at all unlike what nonsensical things the Americans did in the belief that they supported their troops when they invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. Ok, I would have thought Putin T-shirts more apropos but seems the Russian sense of irony sees Assad better suited for this purpose at the moment.

He might be referring to the Nazi-Soviet (Molotov-Ribbentrop) Pact of August 1939 which lasted until the USSR was invaded by Germany in June 1941. As far as I am aware there are no T-shirts produced to celebrate this famous period in Russian history.

You deny my life's experience to include being born during World War II, go ahead because you expose yourself as not in contact with real life in any significant meaning of the term.

My schooling was K-12 plus 7 more years after that in higher education, 8 years in the army or in preparation for it in university ROTC. Now retired after a professional career.
