ginglee
Thought Id take advantage of a cheap flight to Thailand via Beijing next month .I understand that a 72 hour visa is available....So looking for some advice on where to stay & what to do. The obvious places would be the forbidden city & the great wall. Any information of anyone who has been there would be greatly appreciated...thank you
impulse
If you're referring to the 72 hour transit visa on arrival, check the details before buying your ticket. In the past, a round trip ticket hasn't been considered "transit". It has to be on your way from one place to another, with a stop in Beijing- not BKK-PEK-BKK. That may have changed, but I'd check to make sure you don't waste the ticket. They'll gladly sell it to you then refuse boarding and that cheap ticket doesn't look so cheap. If you do go, the Great Wall and Forbidden City and Summer Palace will take up the 48 hours nicely. Well worth the trip.
