Hello,

My GF and myself are coming to visit Chiang Mai over Christmas, I haven't been before and was wondering if someone here could recommend a hotel that is near some restaurants and perhaps a couple of bars for the evening time.

I'm driving up and would like a hotel in the 1-2 K Bt price range. Any other tips would be welcome, maybe a nice trip to drive to relatively nearby.

Not sure if your budget can extend but could you go 3 to 4k? Your options open up a lot.

Try Rimping villa , really would recommend it may be slightly over budget .

Right in your budget, clean, and accessible to public transport.

Loi Kroh nightlife and eateries North and South, and a Bt40 5-min Tuk Tuk ride to Thae Pae gate.

$3-4 k ????? In Asia, this isn't New York City, no need to spend that kind of money.

I search dozens of places last trip, and personally looked at the rooms being offered.

Lux hotel is without question the best value for money in Southeast Asia period, end of conversation.

And at 800 baht, it rivals 3 star hotels in the region.

Great location as well, can't be beat.

Thanks Gents for the replies and rec's so far. I thought there would be a fair choice within my price range as I've stayed at decent hotels all over Thailand including BKK, for that much.
