I hope this gets shared around the world so people know how cheap tourists life's are

If that's a 6-shooter than was he expecting to reload it twice that night? I think he was looking for some serious trouble.

Baht 500? When is this country going to wake up? A fine has to hurt to be of any value. Make the minimum fine for anything Baht 2000 and take it upwards from there. This particular guy needs locking up he obviously has psychopathic tendencies which have not come out yet but are emerging.

Lock him up and throw away the key.

Why is a Defense Volunteer carrying a gun anyway, he is a volunteer?

Apparently foreigners' lives are cheap, had it been a Thai victim, well that would have been another matter no doubt.

I agree but thais a very racist, and blacks or arabs are lower on their scale than white folk....

sad but true...if he had been white the fine may have been 750 baht!

Pathetic

At least it sets a price precedent so here is B3,000 now bring that volunteer over here for the six beatings bought and paid for.

true

Why is this "However, the volunteer, Amnard Choodet, 38, may face more serious penalties for gun-related charges." not explained any further?

They may ban him from playing with others laugh.png

'The maximum penalty for assault is two years imprisonment, a B2,000 fine, or both.' Well, at B500 and a suspended sentence, it ended up well short of a penalty that already comes across as derisory.
