Border run

Featured Replies

Hello everybody, just a recap.

Okay, a man from Britain (G7 country) with a British passport has a tourist visa, single entry. He flies into Thailand and stays for almost sixty days. Okay, he goes into Laos and walks straight back into Thailand. He will be given a 30 day stamp on entering Thailand, yes, is that so right now ?

Yes correct, if he only goes to Laos to get 30 days on visa exempt, why dont just go to immigration pay 1900B and get 30 days?

It would be better to apply for a 30 day extension of the 60 day entry at an immigration office.

Thanks for the replies.
Well, if he's got a few friends who live near the border, and the visa into Loas is 35 US dollars which is cheaper than 1900 baht, well, he might consider the border run. :)

ubonjoe, do you reckon there is a small chance that they won't give him a 30 day stamp when walking back into Thailand ? A 15 day stamp instead ?

He would get 30 days without a question. The 30 day entries for G7 countries has been effect for about 2 years now it is not like it is something new.

Okay, 30 day stamp on walking back in was given. But, the Thai person in uniform did raise the issue of there being no visa on the passport. As in, no tourist visa when walking back in. But did give the 30 day stamp.

And also, the passport, the person was not in Thailand during the 12 months before August 2015.
