Help choosing new car

Featured Replies

At the moment I have a 2.4 Honda Accord I bought from new four years ago, before that I had the Honda CRV 2.4.

I now want to change but cannot make my mind up if to go for SUV or sedan, have liked both of them.

The choices I have come up with are Honda CRV 2.4 or Nissan X-Trial 2.5 then Honda Accord 2.4 or Nissan Teanna 2.5.

Any comments would be a big help or any other suggestions. I would really like to go for the BMW X3 but at 3m+ it just seems too expensive.

Thanks.

Really? Can't you test drive all your options and make your own decisions? All your possible choices are wildly different, only you know what suits your requirements best.

giddyup - Agree with what you say, maybe I was looking for other options or any pro's or cons on my choices.

I guess the first question is, why'd you go from a CR-V to an Accord, and did you regret it?

IMHO - Good question. I like SUV's for the better vision they give by being higher but also like the little bit more luxury a sedan gives. Liked them both. When I went for the Accord from the CRV I just fancied a change.

Now by having had both at a cross road for which to go for.

In years gone past, I would have definitely recommended the Teana, but 2 years on from it's initial launch, and the Camry/Accord have caught up, albeit with slightly different chassis setups (Camry=super soft, Accord=slightly sporty, Teana = in between). The 2nd generation Teana was much more of a standout than the current 3rd generation is. Also, the Accord is now finally quiet with it's active noise cancellation tech - which negates a serious issue the marque always had - and that has lifted it from a dead easy last place in my evaluations to "hard to pick a winner now"..

That said, you really need to think hard about a trade-up to the same basic car you have today.. Rarely do such moves end up with big amounts of satisfaction.. It's a lot of money to spend for only small improvements here and there (or big improvements in the case of noise levels in the Accord).

If you enjoyed your old CR-V, I can be pretty confident you'll like the X-Trail. It's quiet with good ride quality and with tons of tech and safety features, plus the added bonus of +2 seats (3rd row), which when folded down give it much more trunk space than the older CR-V's had - or any D segment sedan has.

Perhaps you should narrow it down between SUV or Sedan first? Its like comparing apples to oranges with so many choices.

CRV vx X-Trail - CRV win hands down for proven reliability, engine, handling, and quality. X-Trail wins out on the space, but its lacks power, quality is not proven yet. (Don't own the x-trail but based on what I read online and seeing the show cars)

Accord vs Teanna - Same for what I listed under the CRV for Honda cars. Teanna wins out on the space and comfort, but the driving feedback is a bit lacking - or not as sporty as the accord. The new accord has a solid feel to it compare to the older generation, lots of new safety tech such as blind spot camera. Accord doors feel heaver when opening and closing, feels like opening a bmw/mercedes, but its simply just the design of the hinge giving it the feel. The accord feels very solid overall. Sat in a friends Teanna, its quite comfy too and spacious, gave a more luxurious feel, whereas the accord has a sportier feel. Never drove the Teanna so perhaps my opinion will change after test driving it..

I will choose : quiet, powerful , stable , fuel economy ,
