PHUKET: -- Six months after a fatal bungy jump killed 25-year-old Kuwaiti tourist Abdullah Adel Kadhbahman, police say they expect to bring formal charges of negligence causing death against the operator of the now-closed facility and one of his staffers to court within the coming week.

Mr Kadhbahman plummeted to his death at the World Bungee Jump off Sainamyen Rd in Patong on May 27 after the ankle straps he was wearing slipped or snapped off on his “rebound”.

He fell 30 metres and died from injuries sustained when he slammed into the ground beside the lake at the site.

“We only just received the forensic report from the Office of Forensic Science in Bangkok, and we are now ready to bring this case to court,” Kathu Police Senior Investigator Col Songwut Khunchan told The Phuket News.

“We expect to do so before the end of this month,” he said.

Col Songwut declined to reveal what was specifically investigated by forensics and the report’s findings, though initial reports by staff at the jump said the ankle straps were checked before each jump and replaced every three to four months.

It took 6 months for forensic results? They should have used the team that did forensics on the Koh Tao murders that took a week, including DNA testing. Maybe if the police in the bungy case were given a reward early in their investigation they would have reached their conclusions much sooner.
