good working number for imm. for general info ?

Featured Replies

I am trying to find a number to thai immigration for general information that actually works. A phone number where somebody will answer and try to help. I would be perfect if somebody knows from experience that a number is working.

I realize that I can find imm. on the internet and start calling. If I am lucky I might eventually find somebody helpful. But that might take hours. It would be so much easier if somebody already has a number. smile.png

Try 1111

What general information are you seeking ?

It is for a thai person trying to educate himself. Related to visa for foreigners I suppose. But there is not just one question.

Your friend could look at the Thai MFA web site.

http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/4908

Available in English/Thai

I trred calling the Ministry of foreign affairs a few months back as directed by the local immigration office with a question about the tourist visa application form.

Hung up on repeatedly passed around, hung up on again, the level of English was pathetic, you think a ministry of foreign affairs would have English speaking staff answering the phones.

Finally got a woman with competent English but she was unable to provide me with any info about the form

How is this nation going to compete and provide service to all the English speaking professionals when the AEC doors open in about 2 months ?

The MFA do not offer a service to foreigners who have problems with simple tourist visa application forms.

and what country has a good working number for imm info?

If I was a Thai in Australia with immmigration issues I would call the the Translating and Interpreting Service.

The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) is an interpreting service provided by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. The department provides interpreting services for people who do not speak English and for agencies and businesses that need to communicate with their non-English speaking clients.

The service is available in 160 languages 24 hours a day, every day of the year by calling 131 450.

Just saying...

Simple answer? They won't...

whistling.gif I have called the call center number 1111 before.

Was answered by a woman who understood what I was asking. She transferred me to a male who was a supervisor whose English was adequate. He answered my question. Unfortunately the answer wasn't what I wanted to hear, but at least it was a true answer.

However, don't expect them to make decisions over the phone. If they have to make a decision on your documents, they are not going to say yes or no until they actually see the documents face to face at an interview.

In other words, you may have to go there in person and plead your case in person.

Exactly... meanwhile they are throwing out farangs English teachers on tourist visa.

That's because they're on the wrong visa.........

And who refuses to give it to them?

They would have no problem getting the right visa if the school offered a legitimate job and WP.

Thank you all. We will try 1111 tomorrow.

I'll report back if something amazing happens. :)

If information is required for Phuket immigration he could send a email to the Phuket Immigration Volunteers at [email protected]

They normally respond within 1 day.

A off topic troll past and the expect replies to it has been removed.
