Jonathan Fairfield Posted October 25, 2015 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Three dead and dozens injured in Oklahoma parade horror crash OKLAHOMA:-- At least three people were killed and more than 30 injured on Saturday after a suspected drink driver ploughed into a gathering of former and current students of Oklahoma State University in the United States.Witnesses described bodies being flung dozens of feet into the air as the car slammed into the throng at an intersection in Stillwater, some 130 kilometres northeast of Oklahoma City, as the parade celebrating the school’s homecoming was ending.“At first we thought it was part of the show,” Konda Walker, a 1991 graduate of OSU, told the local Stillwater News Press.“People were flying 30 feet (9 meters) into the air like rag dolls.”At least eight people were critically injured. Children are among the most seriously hurt.Some attending at first though the fast-moving car’s arrival was part of the parade.The driver, identified as 25-year-old Adacia Avery Chambers, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol, according to Captain Kyle Gibbs of the Stillwater Police.The suspect does not appear to have been a student at Oklahoma State University, Gibbs said. They did what they were trained to do. Headed for the problem, not away from it. PS: The fourth victim was only two years old. My apologies for the mistake in the above post. Funny, it looked to me like one of them was administering first aid while the other two were waiting to help. No idea why they were there. Maybe an Army unit was in the parade. Big Army base at Ft. It's not the availability of guns that has anything to do with the number of violent senseless deaths in the US. There are much deeper social problems at play. Drunk drivers who cause a death or injury in the US will often spend more time in jail than someone in Europe will get for first degree murder.
