Why is it Pattaya gets all the quality tourists !! whistling.gif

When you cater to people who need to pay for sex, you get a lot of tourist who need to pay for sex.

Maybe that is why???

Or may be because people with money go to fun places, instead of farms in the middle of the jungle

Interesting comment,

but it can not be for me.

I have the means and time to travel wherever and whenever I desire.

But the sleazy sex pits of Thailand are not on my list.

probably referring to foreigners from laos/cambodia/burma.....

they have been coming in illegally since jesus christ was a lance corporal. And they know where they work.

Now they are tagging them.

...during a weeklong police crackdown that finished Sunday.

Well, that pretty much spells it out. Avoid the 'crackdown' period, and all is well.

This country is f'n hopeless. They have NO CLUE as too how to do anything properly.

From what ive seen, the usual wait for foreigners going through immigration is relatively short..

So what is this magical "on the spot" intelligence they are using that has enabled them to bust an average of around 3 people per minute of every working day for a week?

Maybe they tweaked the bomb detectors so they can now detect bad guys?

Even if it included every airport and border point, its still very hard to believe that all the staff at all these points got their shlt together to pull this off

There is a much better article on this subject in today's/25 Oct 15, 7:22pm, Bangkok Post titled, "Tough New Overstay Rules Go Before PM" which talks the crackdown and implementing 1, 5, or 10 year Thailand entry bans for overstays.

Lets see so you need to know Russian to go to Pattaya?

You do actually. I was last there about 4 years ago and there were more signs, notices and posters in Russian than there were in English.

Bearing in mind there are few Thai language signs and posters - there were probably more Russian ones than anything else.

Strange. A friend and i were at a pub last night they we frequent every Saturday and there were about 10 police standing right behind us and we were never asked to produce our passports. I think they were too busy trying to figure out how they could get some money outta the bar owner because of the school that was 1 mile away.

I don't buy this story for a minute.

Another totally misleading piece of reporting.

Nothing at all to do with "Illegal Entry". As already pointed out, this is all about remaining here illegally - overstay. 9,038 people were charged with violating the Immigration Act by overstaying their visas, 18 were charged with committing criminal offences and 209 others had committed petty offences.

It was only last week when headlines screamed out that road blocks to nab traffic offenders were being scrapped across the nation, and that if anyone saw a roadblock they were to report it to the Police Spokesman;s Office.

But reading the content of the story - it was unofficial roadblocks that were being cracked down on - a totally different concept from the headline.

and the more scumbags that turn up with putrid sperm leaking out of their bodies; the worse these places get...

This is Armageddon and the Kristal nucht for the undesirables.. I hope it will continues,

just wondering, has the police awarded themselves any bonuses for the round ups?

so they stopped 9000 quality tourists entering Pattaya .........

Why this unfair bashing against Pattaya again?

The original article says that "The nationwide operation // rounded up 9,265 foreigners"

Certainly very few of them arrested in Pattaya

They also say most are from Laos and Cambodia

So certainly very few tourists among them

According to another source, the majority of the 9000 detained for overstay were from African nations, India and Bangladesh.

9,000!!!

Jesus.

One has to ask how 9,000 were allowed to enter illegally in the first place.

Clearly Immigration has no idea what the hell is going on.

I'm just glad we don't have illegal immigrants in the UK!

Clearly Immigration has no idea what the hell is going on.

Most of these cases involve regional offenders, i.e. from Burma and Cambodia. They came across a porous border undetected, or came on legit visas for work or visits and just stay. In many cases, the entry was illegal because entry was gained by way of a visitor visa when the intent was to work. This is the famous Pattaya/Bangkok westerner boiler room worker method. The west literally has millions of bogus residents who have over stayed their student, or visitor or work visas. It is too expensive and difficult to round all these people up.

Under the Immigration Act people with criminal records are forbidden entry to Thailand. However, short of being a well known criminal or on an international watch list, the ban is unenforceable. The Thai immigration department does not have real time access to other countries criminal records. It's not like the EU or the Canada/US border where a border agents can access security information. Unless the Thais are informed that someone is a fugitive or a felon, the Thais do not know.

I can only assume that a lot of these people were from neighbouring countries who entered, and worked, here illegally.

Thousands of foreigners charged for illegally entering country
The Nation

30271596-02.jpeg

BANGKOK: -- MORE than 9,000 foreigners were busted for illegally entering the country - including four wanted by Interpol - during a weeklong police crackdown that finished yesterday.

Police said 9,038 of the 9,265 people arrested - mostly migrants from nearby countries - had been charged with violating the Immigration Act 1979.

Another 18 had violated the Criminal Code and 209 were charged in accordance with other laws.

The arrests included Kristina Monka, 23, a Russian wanted by Interpol on fraud charges, who was detained on Wednesday.

Grigory Lyaskov, 24, another Russian wanted by Interpol on fraud charges, was arrested along with Kristina.

Working as a bank manager in Russia, it is alleged Kristina transferred Bt4 million from a client's account to her secret account and Bt945,000 to Grigory's account.

Russian police issued arrest warrants and cancelled their passports and sought Interpol's help in arresting them.

Immigration Bureau police arrested them in Pattaya.

Agborbelle Mkpot Etah, 32 and Chanceline Ngenwie, 28, Cameroon nationals wanted by police for fabricating documents, were detained on Saturday.

Police said the pair hired Cameroon nationals in Khon Kaen to fabricate documents supposedly linked to an educational institute in Khon Kaen.

The duo claimed they taught at the institute and sought permission to further their stay in Thailand.

Agborbelle was arrested in Bangkok and Chanceline in Chon Buri.

Minwoo Cho, 34, a South Korean wanted by South Korean police for alleged illegal online gambling, was arrested on Friday.

Police found Minwoo at a massage shop in Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district that he operated.

Myo Kyi, 47, a Myanmar national wanted for allegedly using a fake Ranong immigration checkpoint stamp was arrested on Monday at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
