Hi all, I am travelling to Thailand soon, backpacking to different meditation retreats and staying at monasteries. This is my first time backpacking I have been to Thailand before but only on holiday. I am going to Chiang Mai, Surat Thani and Ubon. I was wondering if there were anyone on here who had done this before? If you could share your experiences that would be great, I would like to know how easy it is to get around, where I could possibly meet other backpackers who are doing the same etc etc.....

Many thanks for any info.

As you can see by the level of the replies, theres more ignorance than knowledge about meditation and retreats in Thailand. i believe There's a few I'll ask my ex and get back to you.

You have chose n about the worst forum to ask this. They look with disdain at BPers-most are expats living with Thai wives and grasp any chance to flak out.

Go to travelfish.org-more aimed at your group. And there will be the odd BPer having done it, but they are very, very rare and also tend not to respond very much. Best known is Wat Suan Mohk near Surat-but thats a monthly session, starting by the month.

Yes I didn't know if this would be the right place to post this, I have a few retreats that I'm already booked into, just didn't know if there was maybe a place where like minded people would meet up, and how easy it was to get around etc etc.... Thanks for your help.
