Hello, i would like to get a 60-days Tourist visa for Thailand (TR, one entry) and would like to enter TH around November 29, 2015 for 59 days. I am a EU citizen and would apply for my visa by paper mail at Thailand’s embassy in Berlin.

According to the rules on the embassy’s website, i need to show proof of an in-out air booking.

But i want to book this flight to Thailand only 3 days in advance and then maybe only a one-way flight INTO Thailand. So right now i cannot show a valid booking and when i buy the ticket 3 days before flying, there is no more time to apply for this 60 days visa.

My questions:

Was it in your experience necessary/not necessary to show a valid airplane booking into/out of Thailand when applying for a visa by mail (i.e. not going to the embassy personally)? Were you able to get a visa WITHOUT having proof of flights?

I am aware that i could make some bogus booking and get a refund for it later, but have never done this. Do you have any recommendation how to make a useful bogus booking that “proves” i fly in-out of Thailand?

On the visa form i must state my date of entry and my place of stay. If i fly on a later date than mentioned on the visa form – is that a problem?

Any other relevant experience with Berlin embassy?

Thanks for your real-life experiences!

PS.

I am aware that

- flying into TH without onbound ticket is risky

- other parts of my plans are risky

- new visa rules come up on Nov 13, but they rather don’t help me i think

If you apply to the Berlin Embassy you will have to meet their requirements before they will issue a visa.

You could try applying to one of the German Thai Consulates whose requirements may be different.

Frankfurt am Main, Consulate General
Hamburg, Consulate General
Munich, Consulate General
Stuttgart, Consulate
Thai immigration does not demand an outward bound ticket from those who hold valid visas.

Maybe my comment stupid....but what's with outbound flight ticket. I understand need to show entry INTO los for tourist visa.

Seriously there must be so many genuine tourists that are not exactly sure of their next country to visit or exact date. Is there one ounce of logic to onward ticket, especially if proof of funds can be provided.

I really want to go back to university and do a degree into how to overhaul thai immigration to make it consistent and sensible. Might need an honours degree

Personally never been required outbound flight

Oncearugge, thanks - but most of these consulates you recommend do not accept applications by mail, only personal applications. It would cost me oodles of time to go there personally - and to go there again to retrieve my passport 3 days later (this is the processing time according to their website).

Only the Berlin embassy is clearly ready to accept sent-in visa applications and they outline the procedure clearly.

Why is an inbound ticket important if someone states they need a Thai visa.

I am sure with "logic" you could also solve all the problems in your own country of origin.

It is rather pointless to do a+y comparison between Thailand and countries like Australia@ USA etc. There would be many people wishing to live there illegally for economic reasons. Also many people working illegally while travelling within those countries. Au has plenty as the wages very good. Not the case in Thailand

BTW Australia does not require an inbound or return ticket to be provided. The OP was about tv to Thailand. You need to provide an inbound flight with application. Hard copy..
