What docs needed to get an Retirement ( O ? ) visa at Penang?

Featured Replies

Apologies if this is a repeat ad nauseaum of info out there- I did searches but info was not what I needed.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I would like to know what docs I will need to apply for the retirement visa, (or O- whatever it is called.) I am over 50.

1) More specifically can I use an notarized income verification from my embassy to apply, and then worry about bank balances when I go to get an extension?

2 ) And what is the minimum monthly income needed?

3) Is there a link to the application doc for Penang, specifically?

4) The initial "visa" is good for 90 days, correct? Then I apply for extensions at my local immigration?

1/2 They will accept an income letter showing at least 65k baht income. Just give them a copy of it so you can use the original for the extension. If less than 65k baht you would need money in the bank to make up the difference to total 800k baht.

3. Penang.pdf

4. The non-o visa will allow a 90 entry. You can apply for the extension during the last 30 days of the entry.

^ Great, that is exactly what I wanted to read, THANK YOU so much Ubon Joe.

But won't the Thai immigration want a deposit into bank account info for an extension?

And if not, if an affidavit is acceptable, wouldn't it need to be within 30 days? The affidavit would be over 90 days old at time of extension

Only proof of 65k baht income is needed to apply for an extension. No need for money in the bank if you have 65k baht income.

A income affidavit will be accepted by immigration that is up to 6 months old.
