extension of stay based on retirement query

Featured Replies

I have the above extension, issued at Jomtien,permitted until 21st. Dec. 2015.

I left the country on 5th.Jan 2015 (with a single re entry permit),and returned on 20th.Aug. 2015.

Suvanabhumi immigration have stamped my passport with 'admitted until 21 Dec. 2015' (123 days!), when I was expecting a 90 day period ending 18th. Nov.2015.

Would someone answer my following queries;

1.Do I still have to do a 90 day report at Jomtien on or around 18th. Nov. 2015?, or

2. can I just apply for a new extension of stay,based on retirement, before 21.12.2015?

thankyou

The 90-day reporting requirement is unrelated to your Extension, therefore:

-- Yes, do a 90-day report o/a 18 Nov, 15 days prior or NLT 7 days after.

-- Then do your Extension again on 21 Dec, or better yet, up to 30 days prior. Always better do do it early just in case they come up with some new requirement for info.

You weren't given 90 days because you don't have a visa. You have an extension of stay valid until Dec 21st. When you re-entered the IO used your re-entry permit which entitled you to the remainder of your current stay.

  1. Yes. You can report up to 7 days late if in person.
  2. You can apply up to 30 days early at most offices and some 45 days. Nothing is lost by applying early as the new extension will start from the end of the old one regardless of when you apply.

I believe that Jomtien will allow extensions to be applied for up to 45 days early, so if you want to do your 90 day report and extension of stay at the same visit, to avoid two trips, you could apply for your extension of stay around Nov 18th.

Note that your 90 day report is not reset when you do your extension of stay unless the IO decides to do so and gives you a new date. Also, incase you're unaware 90 day reports can be done online or by post.
