NKK, these clowns are on a slippery slope that is getting steeper and steeper by the day. They have totally tanked the economy, there are no concrete "reforms", other than regulating lottery ticket prices, and they don't have a clue that the rest of the civilized world is laughing at them. The man in charge, in typical megalomaniac style, honestly believes he has all the answers, but turns to instant shit when anyone or anything shows him that he doesn't History will not remember him, and his cronies, well at all.

I thought you were smart and educated.. if you truly are you know you cant blame the current government for the economic problems. They are mostly based on the world economy and policies and neglect of the previous goverments as they never did anything about the fishing and left a huge debt with the rice program.

You are partly right however they haven't done enough and the leader is a PR disaster. YL was no PR disaster but a puppet. Thailand deserves better as both of them.

You are mistaken.Certainly the global economic climate is not favourable and the Junta cannot of course be blamed for its impact on Thailand. But risk mitigation has been weak and economic management incompetent.Prayuth recognised this by reorganising his economic team.Overall a failing grade.

I am not mistaken, its mainly due to the global economic climate and I admit a smaller part to some bad decisions on the economic team. But the large part comes from the economic climate and mistakes of the previous governments. The whole fishing thing is not something that can be blamed on Prayut, same as the aviation problems, these were things ignored by the previous governments and have an impact on the economy too.

You don't make much sense. All governments have to deal with unpredictable global events which impact on the economy. How they deal with these exogenous forces as well as normal economic management is the test of competence. This government has failed.

Over the top, its good that the government suppresses the reds (dont want the killings and street protests back) but they should not overdo it. This is one of those cases where they go over the top.

You do understand that by "suppressing the reds" you are guaranteeing future bloodshed in the streets of Thailand? You can't strip away the voice of millions of Thais to protect a privileged minority and not expect blowback.

And no, this is not "over the top" for this lot, it's par for the course.

when you suppress any of your citizens, then you suppress democracy ... apparently a lesson some posters have not yet understood.

personally, I would like to see the military suppressed. That would be the "big win" when it comes to stopping the killing... coffee1.gif

This is the sign of a scared regime, who is desperate to hold on to their power and control any way they can.

Being scared can turn into a deep seated fear, next is paranoia and then anything can happen.

I'm not saying it will happen here but it has happened elsewhere where certain types of regimes start believing they're losing control and will do whatever it takes to get it back.

Nice one robblok, I can like your post because I cannot really disagree with it, it being such a balanced view as far as it goes. I cannot like most of your posts but here I think you're very close to the truth. I do, however, believe Yingluck is turning out to be far more than any puppet, and probably well beyond the dreams of starry-eyed big brothers. The coup's most interesting power shift seems to me to be towards what younger sis' is coming to represent: fail to see or understand this at your peril, lords and ladies.

I think there may be other influences beyond this single man's will. Puppetry is an art, not an ideology.

I think all we have seen in recent times and everything still unfolding is the result of knowing darn well there are no available answers. It's a collective flapping hysteria of anachronisticity in the face of facebook The Age of Information The Communication Age where who gets the most likes wins.

No by suppressing the reds there is no grantee for future bloodshed. If you let those guys run free with their armed terrorist wing then you get bloodshed. So keeping them out of mass demonstrations saves lives. So far it has worked even though you don't like it.

I still feel this is over the top but if you think its ok then so be it.

Suppress them how ? Not allowing them to protest ? Not allowing them to speak ? Not allowing them to wear a red shirt? Nothing has been done to rectify the resentment of those who have seen their government deposed. Those people have a right to be angry and only a small group could be called violent. Associating violence with all those who voted in Yingluck are the ramblings of the less than nimble minded.

Really over the top. Shame on those who are behind this. He's 77 <deleted> ! He'was born in 1938. He's lived through the Japanese Occupation, numerous uprisings and coups and PMs and he's now charged for giving flowers to one of a group of four ! These guys have lost the plot !

Totally agree. "Paranoia" in action. Everyone is my enemy.

I wonder how they would view a group wearing red poppies next month??

"its good that the government suppresses the reds dont want the killings and street protests back" Do you keep telling yourself this shit every day , so you "Believe", Yes you should always have the army on the streets in case any one disagrees with a Military Regime or heaven forbid , give a protester flowers , the Army have the right to shoot them in order to keep the Peace. I really do not understand some of these peoples logic that they profess to live by and want to keep. Its just something they hear in Pro -government news and Propaganda , "No Thinking Required ......Follow Party Line"

Worrying IMO
