Sweden pays tribute to school attack 'hero'



STOCKHOLM: -- An emotional crowd gathered on Wednesday (October 28) at the funeral of Lavin Eskandar, killed last week in a sword attack on a Swedish school.

The 20-year-old teaching assistant was stabbed to death as he tried to protect his pupils from the rampage. One teenage boy was killed. The attacker, who wore a mask and is said to have had a racist motive, was shot by police and died of his wounds.

Not sure why "hero" is in quotes in the story title. It would seem it's the right word to describe him.

if this had been in the US the attacker would have an automatic gun and killed 20, luckily Sweden has a tough weapon regulation.

I'm half Swedish and that happened really close to where my mum is from. It's the last place you'd expect something like that to happen, hence why it's made quite a lot of news I guess
