Had my trip to Jomtien immigration yesterday to apply for my 1 year retirement extension based on retirement. Was in and out in 20 minutes, had to go back today to collect my passport all stamped up for the year. All told a painless experience. The paperwork I provided is listed below.

Application form TM7

Copies of all relevant passport pages

Copy of my house lease

Copy of my landlords Tabien Baan and ID card

Letter from the bank showing 800k baht seasoned

Copies of bank book pages

Passport sized photograph.

At no point was I asked for a TM30 receipt or asked to fill one out as other posters have indicated. Also there was no "under consideration" period.

Yes, I've always found that if you have everything in order and organized that the annual extension of stay based on retirement at Jomtien is quick and painless.

I've never been asked for a proof or address. I usually bring along the most recent copy of my 3 BB bill as well as the deed for my condo, but never needed to supply them.

1 yr extention on retirement at Chiang Mai today, was a zoo :-( Was there at 0600, was #17 at 0900, told to come back at 1400, the guy after me #18, said the queue line stops at #20? I was there in Sept, 90 day report, and they told me 23 retirement per day?

I took a lunch break, went to Bangkok Bank, and Kasikorn to update both bankbooks with today's date....

1. Had the TM 7 form filled out.

2. 4 photos

3. A notarized monthly income from the US Consulate

4. Receipts, monthly rent, electric and water bills for the last 12 months to date.

5. A receipt from my building manager, " Receipt of Notification".

That's it in my folder....the IO only looked at the monthly income from the US Consulate.., didn't bother to look at the other paper work, didn't even want to look at my updated bank books....but a surprise for me, he said your retirement dates on your passport had gone to over stay? So 1900+8000B, had me sign my name about 10times, of course unknown to me, as most were in Thai, sign here, here, and here, here...okay go next door and make 3 copies on my passport, I said I needed to go to the ATM for the over stay., he said okay, this was at 1430.....then after signing all the places, he said come back at 1630 for your passport :-( walked around the mall like a zombie, after being up all last night....came back to the office, finally called my name and finished at 1655 ....I'd bought a nice sleeping pad for one of my sleepers...go outside, of course no red taxis, when you need one, never there, waited a good hour for a taxi, red taxi, or tuk-tuk, nothing, then it was getting dark, and started to rain, got soaked, and lucky my new top for the sleeper was wrapped.....I ended up in a restaurant directly across the street from Promenada, had to get out of the rain, eat a little, listened to the karaoke singers and band....they called a taxi for me...rtp now today was 450B not including a tip...the old office next to Airport Plaza only cost 40B each way...when I was soaked in rain, one red taxi came by, and wanted 400B for my return ride :-( I said No.....soaked and exhausted after today at CM immigration, I just hope not to end up with pneumonia :-)

You were on overstay? If your fine was 8000B that means that your previous retirement extension expired on something like October 18 or 19. Is that correct?

He was very fortunate to have his extension renewed.

The IO could easily have charged him the overstay, sold him a 7 day extension and advised that a new "O" visa was required.................

I was not aware that I had overstayed :-( Last year my Thai friend did all the paperwork for me, and she made 4 copies of my 90 days to report, just said the next 4 quarters to go on/before the dates stamped :-) So not knowing of the actual date, of the retirement extension, I assumed it was Dec 1st, 2015, which was the last set of papers copied last year....

I didn't understand the date unknown to me in my passport to extend/renew another year was different? :-( I just thought they stamped the last 90day, was the same for today's extent ion, okay Dec. 1st, 2015, I can try to renew 45 days in advance, so Nov. 3rd, almost within 30days :-)

But to only find out today, they're different :-(

I said, when I was in the new office in Sept, why didn't someone tell me this? I told the IO, last year my Thai friend helped me, but she left the country, and I just trying to do all the paperwork myself :-) He said sorry, but 90 day reporting is separate, and nothing to do with the re deadline....:-) So at least I know now, that Nov. 3rd, 2016 is my next year's deadline :-) Thank God/Buddha :-)

If you look in the passport you will see clearly stamped "extension of stay permitted up to xx-xx-xxxx"

It is a personal responsibility to know what the passport contains.

Easy to say, but not that easy to do.....I've been in CM for over the last 3 yrs...this last year easy except no Thai IO ever pointed out to me, my date of expedition, right, it's not their job to help or assist you :-(

Specially, when many of the forms are in Thai? A good example like today, okay sign here sign here, and there? Don't a person deserve the right to even know what they're signing?

My 1st 2 yrs, in/out to home, they stamp here and there in your passport, then I was going back/forth to Mae Sai every 2 weeks, stamp here/stamp there, when that failed, then to Nong Kai/ Laos same thing, stamps here and elsewhere :-) No one tells you shit, just collect monies and stamp the hell out of your passport....do you really think that it's really easy to know or who/when where, and the dates stamped?

Not that easy my friend ! I tell them one thing, I came here on Nov. 19th, 2012, and been here at the same address as noted on the arrival cards written in the past....yes today, I know Nov 3rd, 2016 is my next year's deadline, only because the IO showed me where it was stamped, because I asked them to please help me :-)

At Jomtien recently yes, I had to produce it to get my tourist visa converted to Non-Imm O and they made sure I knew I would also need it for the 1 year extension. A lot of people were getting sent away because they didn't have it.

I was asked for proof of address at Jomtien in August. Of course, I had forgotten to bring that but my driver's licence was accepted.

I've never had a problem at Jomtien.

Interesting, you complain about signing forms, that you cannot read, because they are in Thai. But you don't even bother to read the deadline date of your extension, which is printed clearly in English.

Just confirming this applies to the 30 day extension as well (Jomtien Office)

These are new rules just come into effect as stated by the officers.

Yes we who fall under the jurisdiction of the Jomtien office have it very good. they've been pretty much in the ball and efficient for years now. These upcountry departs with their tales of woe really should consider why they live in areas where it's such a PITA to do their immigration formalities.

Boring smog-bound, traffic clogged city with rubbish bars and a crappy immigration office. Why does anyone want to live there? So glad I chose Pattaya. Wonderful place.

So with an original Non-Immigrant B visa, one can now simply get an extension of stay "based on retirement," providing that all the right paperwork and bank account requirements are met?

Although I sympathize with your immigration dilemma in that fine city up north, this thread is Jomtien specific and procedures do vary quite a bit from office to office.

I too have never had a problem, but one thing is certain here - procedures often change.

It would seem we now need to bring along a copy of Landlord's housebook and ID.

I'm eagerly awaiting a recent report from someone who didn't bring these and was told to get them - preferably from a person who has had more than one extension. I know the OP brought them along, but often they take documents which aren't specifically required.

Do you have a Valid NI "B" visa or an "extension of stay based on working " ie. Do you leave the country every 90 days or report to immigration?

Either way Immigration may wish you to obtain a single entry "O" visa before processing an extension based on retirement.

You should check with your local immigration office re their requirements.

Some posts say need letters from the bank on accounts dated within 1 day, yesterday I was able to update 2 bankbooks with yesterday's dates, but the IO didn't even bother to look at them? Others say bring all your utilities bills/receipts, monthly rent, electricity, water usage, didn't need those either :-) Other say bring copy of lease rental contract, didn't have anything, and he didn't ask? Different documents needed for others, or different offices?

You most certainly did not receive an extension of with a income of 1650B /month unless that was combined with other financial resource which the immigration officer would most certainly have wished to see.

You might be best advised to retain a agent to assist you with any further extension applications.

Twice at Jomtien Immigrations I noticed the senior officer (who used to sit at the back) used the Bangkok Bank foreign exchange rates web page and wrote the exchange rate on my application.
