End of ED visa extension

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am sure someone here is able to give me answer on this; my 1 year ED visa extension will end on the 20th november. I was offered a job but, before start the process of non-b visa and work permit application, I understood that I'll need to get a tourist visa extempt (30 days) by crossing the border. Is it possible to get an extempt at Kanchanaburi or Ranong, or would it be safer to apply for tourist visa at the Thai Embassy/Consular in Vietiane or Penang.

Many thanks in advance.

To confirm, you've been on an extension since at least Nov, 2014?

Ranong: You should be able to get at least 1 visa exempt stamp over there....I cannot confirm how many are needed before a reset. From what I remember, there is a limit of 2 or 3 back to back. They will likely ask questions like if you are working.

Kanchanaburi, what is the city or name of the immigration office on the Burma side? Is it still $10USD?

Thanks for your prompt response.

Correct my ED visa was issued last year Nov. 2014, extend every 90 days at the local immigation office and I'll need leave the country on or before 20th this month.

Kanchanaburi, I heard Ban Phu Nam Ron - would like to know if it is still possible to get an 30 day extempt there.

Ranong, do you remember they still give 30 days?

Many thanks!

Last time I went to Kanchanaburi, Ban Phu Nam Ron 6 weeks ago you were only allowed through if you had a visa, no visa exempt there

Cambodia is ok, check with one of the visa run companies in BKK

Ranong, I have heard yes and no

Maybe be on the safe side and get a Tourist visa in Vientianne, this will give you plenty of time to sort the paperwork out for your Non B

Thank You,

I think I will play it safe and travel to Laos to get a Tourist Visa.
