Heart attack kills NLD candidate

BANGKOK: Soe Myint, National League for Democracy (NLD) Myinmu candidate for Sagaing regional parliament, died suddenly of a heart attack on a campaign vehicle.

The medical report said he suffered from high cholesterol, the NLD announced.

"When the campaign vehicle arrived in front of the old people's home, he suffered a heart attack. We don't know if he suffered from heart disease. Although the incident doesn't affect our overall campaign, we are very sorry to lose our comrade," said Khin Maung Thein, Lower House Sagaing candidate.

Soe Myint, 54, will be buried in Myinmu on November 9.
