Crackdown on influential people to be done over 6 months

BANGKOK, 6 November 2015 (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has expressed confidence that the government’s crackdown on influential individuals will be completed within a 6 month timeframe.

Gen Prawit revealed that the government will establish a committee as well as a network in each province to coordinate with the military and law enforcement officials, in cracking down on influential groups and confiscating weapons.

He confirmed that the process will be done in a gradual manner, while giving an assurance that the government has no blacklist of individuals to go after.

We will know if they were serious when we read in the news about the influential mafia like people on kho tao being arrested. Until that happens then this story is propaganda only.

What I can't understand is they are coordinating with the RTP? How can they go after themselves if they still have the power they abuse so well?

Thailand. Look at yourself in the mirror. Accept yourself and learn to be comfortable in your own skin.

No....Like if you look yourself in the mirror and you see a fat ugly guy, you should not get comfortable, you should man up, go on diet and exercise hard till you are fit.

Thailand is decorating the mirrow with some flowers and get comfortable with the ugly image....

Well, if you read the other threads, they already got all the big names in the bag, 25 of Thailand's biggest influencers, [soap Stars and Boy Bands] all caught bang to rights, spruiking beer!

Case closed, the place is clean as a whistle now.

They may be smarter than they're getting credit for, spin doctors know that if you bang away at a theme for long enough, people begin to believe it as gospel.

Exhibit A North Korea cult of personality

Exhibit B Weapons of Mass Destruction

Exhibit C War on Drugs is a roaring success and the ONLY way to contain the scourge

The RTA and RTP cracking down on their own. That will be the day...

I mean, everybody knows where many of these so-called influential individuals and groups hold very, very comfortable (read: almost untouchable) positions.

"Influential people"... What does that mean? Why are influential people bad? People could be a good influence, or a bad influence. Is it illegal to be influential? Is the term bring used by the big one to give carte Blanche to neutralize anyone he sees fit? Oi, you, you're influential...you're nicked!

Why not drop the word "influential" and just say "people"... We announce today a crackdown on people.

Most of the population of Bangkok will be on tenterhooks. "Influential???? Oh That's us!!!!

Perhaps the Junta should stick to a time frame of sorting out the charter and getting the country back on track to elections, democratically or otherwise, the longer you stay there the more weirder you get , discontent is now ragging on social media and you are about to crackdown on influential people and remember what comes around goes around, there may well be a crack down on influential army commanders in the near future..........coffee1.gif

"crackdown on influential individuals" cheesy.gif For what purpose ??

The offence will be for "being influential" of course

Oh my sainted aunt! Open mouth. Check! Insert foot. Check! They never learn to look after the dollars and let the cents look after themselves. Of all the things they could have announced a crackdown on.........................

There must be a lot more to this story.

The mention of confiscating firearms has got to be the hint. But not a well thought out name for the project. It all depends on what you regard as influence.

But why announce it at all? In the words of the sports clothes maker................ "Just Do It!"

Another 'spectacular' announcement that means nothing.

I feel so sad for the Thai populace.

Beautiful country, beautiful people ( in the main).

As a previous poster said, until the likes of the Koh Tao and Samui mafia are eliminated, along with their uncle protector

it's business as usual.

Smoke and mirrors.

Propaganda.

Empty rhetoric.

In short: more boolsheet

The purge of any pockets of resistance shall be undertaken. Be warned the storm troopers are coming. The fuhrer must not be embarrassed anymore. As for the progress of cheaper motorcycle taxis and lottery tickets, he thanks you.

Why so negative?

Even if it looks like that in the moment - things might change - hopefully

6 months? I can imagine how long it takes to send thousand of E-Mails and making phone calls to all these "influential figures" to inform them a week in advance about the arrest warrants that may be issued.
