I am in Thailand, on the first entry of a double entry tourist visa. I plan to leave for a quick visa run tonight.

2 Questions:

  1. For the second entry, basically I want to know if can I just go to the boarder, cross over, and then immediately turn around, and cross back. Would that work?
  2. I was planning to do this at the Mukdahan/Savannakhet boarder because I've been there before. Is there a better option from Bangkok? If so, where and how?
  3. The visa says "enter before Nov 12". Does that mean Nov 11 is the last day to enter, or is entry on Nov 12 permissible?

I've been here over a year on tourist visas.

I am Canadian.

Thanks!

Yes you can cross the border and come straight back. Just have to actually enter the other country.

Tricks like walk back before the checkpoint are illegal.

You can use the visa on Nov 12. An often asked question because of a misleading wording.

Best from Bangkok? Someone else will know.

Mukdahan does not sound like the easiest.

A run from Bangkok to Poipet (Aranyaprathet is the Thai side) would be much faster. Busses leave from Ekami and MoChit on fairly frequent schedules (check with them for latest). There are also Vans available from near Victory Monument. There are also "visa-run" vans, which charge more, and may be more comfortable.

Last word on Cambodia is no hassles for quick turn-around for those who Have A Valid Visa. You could be asked to show funds of 20K Baht in cash - this is true at any entry-point.

Just be sure your run to the border and return to Thailand, to activate the 2nd Entry, occurs before the "enter by" date stamped on your visa. I would leave an extra day, just to be on the safe-side - in case of an unexpected delay.

Always true. If you wake up with a headache you are in a headache tongue.png

I want to do the Poipet option. But I just read "as of Sept 18th, Out/In stamps will not be issued at some checkpoints on the Thai-Cambodian border, even if you are in possession of a valid visa."

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/856633-no-more-outin-stamps-on-thai-cambo-border-for-anyone/

Now I'm getting worried. I'm running out of time, and I have to figure out what to do for a visa run.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Old news!

The "issues" have now been resolved.

If you have a valid visa no problems should be experienced.

What a relief. I was totally panicking. I haven't been able to find any updates on the out/in situation at all, except above. Any idea where you read the update?

Hi can anyone help please?

We have a double entry visa where the original entry expires in early December 2015, if we do second entry early November 2015 will we only get the 60 days or will we also be able to accumulate the original remaining 30 days we have hence giving us 90 days, or by leaving & re-entering early will we forfeit & lose any/all original days?

Thanks in advance, much appreciated if someone can clarify this. DD

Both entries must be made prior to the visas "enter before date" clearly marked on the visa.

Each entry secures a 60 day stay which can be extended by 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 Bht.

You cannot "save" days.

If you wish to leave for a few days while still having 30+ days left from the original first entry it may be worth obtaining a re-entry permit (1000 Bht from immigration) which will allow you to leave and return with the original "permission to stay date" intact. If you had not already done so the 30 day extension could still be applied for.

Be aware that a re-entry permit does not add any extra days
