Been feeling nauseous for a couple of weeks.

Been having this continuous feeling of nausea for at least two weeks, but all else seems to be normal, like appetite, bowels etc. Recently had blood tests, chest X Ray and endoscope to check hoarseness in voice, all came up as normal, but this feeling of nausea persists. What else should I be getting checked out?

Gall bladder ..... checked with ultrasound.

Parasites ....... not sure how they check for them.

If you're not pregnant, than I would go for gastroparesis , or similar gastro issues, or a persistent virus in the guts,

a course of good anti biotics could be the answer .......

Anti-biotics dont kill viruses. I would look into the gall bladder. Stones can do this, along with sharp pain in the left shoulder blade.......easy to check with ultrasound and a stool sample for parasites.

Are you on any new medications or different brand or dose of an old medication? As this is usually the culprit...

Been taking the same medication for BP for at least 4 years now, Hydrochlorothiazide (25mg) and Metoprolol (25mg), as well as 100mg of Allopurinol for gout, no new medication.

Have you been sweating more than usual?the htz puts you at risk of electrolyte disturbances.

No, I haven't had any other symptoms, only the nausea. I might add I drink plenty of water, 6-8 big glasses a day, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, don't smoke and only drink the occasional beer or glass of red wine. I'm 6'2" and only weigh 87kg, so not overweight either.

Still suspect possible electrolyte problem. You could get your srrum potassium, sodium and chloride measured -- these will not have been part of your prior blood work and fo not need to be done on an empty stomach. Alyernatively could try drinking some electrolyte packets (readily available at 7 11 ) and see if after a few days you feel beyter.

I'll give that a try. Do you have a brand name for the electrolytes, can't say I ever seen them in a 7/11, but then I've never looked. One thing that seems to have increased is gas at both ends.

I had once, with increased gas and feeling overly full all the time.

I strongly reduced my food intake to almost nothing for a few days and than restarted slowly....everything OK....Never know what and why. Felling was like the body can't process it, like when you eat too much cheap fat, even when the food wasn't very fat.

Try to not eat 1 day, if it is the same you might be very hungry but no nausea....

For electrolytes, Oreda is one brand of many sold by pharmacy's and 7-11's. Most of the energy drinks in the beverage case will also do.

One easy and natural source: coconut water from green coconuts sold on the street everywhere in Thailand.

Bought a few different brands to try from the pharmacy today, the kind you mix with water. I know 7/11 used to have small bottles of coconut water (with slices of coconut inside), but couldn't see any today.
