Topped up lumina windows phone twice this week and within a couple of hours and without use the credit is back to zero. Had the usual SMS confirming balance so any ideas before going into the AIS place? as they are bound to come up with excuses like it's the windows phone or you use internet, which I don't on the phone. No 'get an android' or I phone comments please.

I would guess your internet data is on without an internet data plan. If you don't have a plan then the normal rate is incredibly high. Even if you aren't using it, your phone may be using it in the background without you knowing.

I have a Lumia 535 phone, you need to turn off Data connection. Go to 'settings', then 'mobile+SIM', then turn Data connection 'OFF'. That will stop your phone connecting to the internet and using your credit. You can use Wi-fi to connect to the internet while the data connection is turned off. If you want to use the internet via data connection you can easily turn it on again but remember to turn it off when you are finished or it will continue to run down your credit. Hope this is of assistance

Check to see that you do not have data enabled. Even though you don't use the internet there are certain function of you phone that may use it.

Also have you set up any package with them that gets recharged every month.

You could also have inadvertently been subscribed to some pay services like "Calling Melody" or other such garbage. Have AIS check for any unwanted services.

Don't automatically assume that AIS Customer Service will blow you off. I've found them to be very helpful almost any time I have had an issue.

You can also 'disable' (turn off) DATA Feature for the AIS mobile account, so even if the phone data gets re-enabled somehow it still won't work / be billed until you re-authorize it on the mobile account.

AIS / One2Call: Manually Activate-Deactivate Data Service

Some apps on phones, smartphones, or tablets may have auto-data
connections feature. To prevent unintentional use, the user should
deactivate the data service when not in use.

Works for both Post- and Pre-Pay AIS accounts

To deactivate data service Dial * 129 * 1 # call

To activate data service Dial * 129 * 2 # call
To check data activation status Dial * 129 # call

For double protection, download the app "AutomateIt" and set up the rule - Trigger: Wifi Network Connection State -> Action: Disable Mobile Data. With my phone, even with data switched off, I found that there was still a small amount of "leakage" in that AIS found ways of reducing my call credit. This app stopped it completely.

Had the same problem when I first got a Samsung smartphone. Had a balance of around Baht 500 and almost immediately got an SMS telling me I needed to top up. Turned off the "mobile data" and all was well briefly, but it magically turned itself on again and zapped my balance. For whatever reason it seems now to have resigned itself to being permanently off. I've learned to live without always knowing instantly when someone on Facebook has changed his/her profile or added a new photo.
