Thailand only: Four year old twins ‘get married’ to help ward off evil spirits

CHAINAT: The parents of four year old twins have held a wedding ceremony for their children in the hope of saving them from bad luck and evil spirits.

The ceremony, which was held at the family home in Chainat province, was just like a typical Thai wedding and even included payment of a sinsod, a traditional wedding parade, guests and a blessing from local monks.

The father, Mr Somkiat, told Thairath that the marriage between his son Nong Crepe and daughter Nong Cream had been arranged to help bring them good luck and prevent evil from taking their souls.

As strange as it sounds, this practice isn’t uncommon in Thailand, with many Thais believing that twins of opposite sex are at a high risk from living a life tormented by bad luck and evil spirits.

Some Thais believe that opposite sex twins were lovers in the past life.

The children’s father said that he wanted to trick the evil spirits into thinking his children were a genuine couple rather than twin brother and sister, so that they would be free from bad luck.

Mr Somkiat added that if the marriage hadn’t taken place one or both of his twin children would likely die at the hands of the evil spirits.

Sounds real strange, but then again someone being crucified and coming back from the dead is just as strange. Only atheism makes any sense because it relies on facts not unproven beliefs.

Just when you think you have just read the most stupidest

thing about Thailand, something pops up to beat it.never a

dull moment here. P.S. the little boy does not look very happy about it all.

verging on child abuse, ridiculous.

I'll go tell the spirits who live in the tree in my garden. They will be so happy.

How do you defend the people believing that a guy got crucified and then came back from the dead and was the son of god ?

Sounds as stupid to me as this, it does not matter what religion you believe in its all stupid and unproven. You can't say this religion is less stupid as that one because they are all based on faith not facts.

"The children’s father said that he wanted to trick the evil spirits into thinking his children were a genuine couple rather than twin brother and sister, so that they would be free from bad luck."

Guess those evil spirits are a couple of bananas short of a bunch.

"... are at a high risk from living a life tormented by bad luck and evil spirits."

How ironic. After getting married, I lived a life tormented by bad luck and evil spirits.

He's just realised who his mother in law is.

Spirits here have a 10 IQ point disadvantage in comparison to their sheet wearing, iron ball dragging Western counterparts.

Good God almighty , has this country completely lost the place. This is 2015 not 1515 is it not ?

I was beginning to worry and im glad that they cleared that part up that the Sinsod was paid up.. blink.png

I'm a bit confused on who pays who?

let alone if they in the future have offspring.. might explain a few problems in the gene pool in some places. wub.png

Hope they got that pre-nup ironed out......

Forget good God.. its at least 95% Buddhist here so anyone trying to do the conversion thing is failing at an alarming rate much like teaching English.

Its actually 543 years ahead of the western calendar but you would never know it!!

555 yes forget even being married the same torment happens even in 'Defacto' relationships now...

verging on child abuse, ridiculous.

yes there are a variety of child abuse questions in Thailand - this is an extreme version - but basically the childhood ended quick and they are forced to send the cashola home as quick as mama needs it... subservient systems are strong here.

Great honeymoon that will be, married to his sister and has to go with his mum and dad !

Some people are clearly too stupid to be allowed to have children.

first world country

This is better than cutting off Christians Heads or other no Muslims.

So I say be happy about this
