French jets bomb ISIL stronghold in Syria

PARIS: -- French fighter jets launched air strikes against ISIL targets in Syria on Sunday night, just two days after the group claimed responsibility for the coordinated attacks in Paris.

The raids were France’s biggest to date in Syria and were directed at the Islamist extremists’ stronghold of Raqqa. They involved 10 jets which were launched simultaneously from the United Arab Emirates and Jordon and were carried out in cooperation with the US.

The French defence ministry said twenty bombs were dropped on a command centre, a munitions depot and a training camp for fighters in the Syrian city .

The operation came just hours after Paris and Washington pledged to step up the campaign against ISIL in response to Friday’s terrorist attacks in the French capital that killed at least 129 people and injured more than 350.

Didn't the russians bomb raqqa too….doesnt sound like a very big place….are these fools dropping bombs on a pile of sand and thinking they achieved something great?

Posted

Five terrorists have been identified and they are ALL French and Belgians.

They got brainwashed in Europe to go and get trained in Syria.

How is killing people in Syria will lower the risk future of terrorist attack?

ISIL or something else......

Next month USA is dropping some anti-tank weapons for the moderate Islamist again......

And the Russians bombed Afghanistan for 18 years, Then they left with nothing achieved.

And then the Americans, Brits, French or anybody else that they could con in the UN to join the coalition then bombed Afghanistan again, or at least the rubble that the Russians left. then they left, well almost, with nothing achieved. Well except the opium production is now at it's all time high.

So fast forward to present day and what will they achieve. As we are all finding out the enemy is within requiring a very different approach to the problem.

Russian, I guess you mean Soviet, did not achieve anything because USA supplied modern weapons, biggest problem the anti-aircraft weapons to the "freedom fighters".

Soviet called them Muslim Terrorists.

Amazing !

A few tweets, hashtags, Facebook messages...on the net...

And hup, kerosene filled rafales somewhere in the Middle East loaded with 250 kg guided bombs are flying over areas with supposedly no civilians...

Is this still normal ?

FRANCE REVENGE????

With only a small detail......

Was reported that France started bombing ISIS position 2 weeks before the ISIS REVENGE in Paris....

What ISIS did in Paris is terrible...but...what France was expecting from a terrorist group?...to keep quiet after France attacking them????

France Air Force may kill some terrorist with air attacks....but...always with the typical "collateral damages"...like the children hospital destroyed by the US Air Force in Irak..... Are French civilians of more value than Libya, Iraq and Syria civilians????

France was surprised by ISIS attack?....Give me a break!

I hope FRANCE, US and the UK are learning something with this......

NO GET INTO OTHER COUNTRIES BUSSINES!!!!!

Raqqa is the isis capital. I believe, based on what ever news source suppled this (always suspect these days) that most not supporting isis have left. Some people just don't seem to realize, war is war and innocent people get killed. How many French did the US and England kill in WWII retaking France? If you are going to fight a war, fight the damn war, if not pack up and go home before you get your people killed. I've been where you can't tell the good from the bad and they all look like they hate you and probably do. Permission to fire sir? Been there, done that and no t-shirt. No way to fight a war when they are killing your people. Just a note, the troops do not fight for "god, country, mom and apple pie" troops fights to survive and to keep one's fellow troops alive. Damn it, if you can't fight, you die and your people around you.

The outcome will be that NATO finally will have to bite the bullet and support Assad(like it should have done from the beginning). The few moderate islam rebels has long been gone from the battlefields in Syria and the rebels fighting Assad now isn`t any alternative for Syrias future.

You are doing a good job though! unless of course you can produce the all important evidence?

"ALL French and Belgians."

And what generation would that be?

I find it hard to believe that people can give up their true Country, because "They got brain washed in Europe" more like they were never really Europeans in the first place! and just playing Europe as users! for what freebies they can get!

No silly. The US is backing an imaginary moderate force of Al Queda/al Nursa (the latest incarnation of the Free Syrian Army- a name wholly contrived from a US OP4 WarGames Manual, like the Korason Group), who then gives their equipment to IS.The US moderate rebels are like sightings of Elvis Presley, there have been rumors, but no one has actually seen him.

yes, but the weapons mostly ended with ISIL in the past because there are no moderate Islamists...

REVENGE??? .....FOR WHAT?

it is just WAR!...Or Hiroshima was a revenge too???

ISIS claimed credit so they get the credit.

They also claimed credit for the Metrojet bombing and the Russians will see that they pay for that one too.

ISIS folks have a death wish.

Hiroshima was the second in a long series of nuclear tests.

Is a Tweet, #hashtag becoming equal as a confession ?

If yes, there are a lot of criminals...
