I will be applying for a 30 day extension on my first 60 days on a tourist visa in a few weeks from now. I have a 3-entry tourist visa I obtained late August.

What happens if you go down to the immigration office on the last day of your stamp and apply and are subsequently refused an extension?

Can I then turn around and do a quick visa run?

You will get a 7 day stamp. You have 7 days to get out.

question : how long is your triple entry tourist visa valid for ? is it enough time to use 30 day extensions on the first 2 ? it seems like some times they are only valid for time to use the 3 of them with out extensions

Do they charge for a 7 day stamp?

Cool_guy_Cory, my 3-entry tourist visa does not expire until February 2007. This will be the first extension that I've ever applied for.

Do they charge for a 7 day stamp?

Yes, ฿1,900... :o

Really? Is it possible to apply for an extension a day or 2 early and if they will only grant a 7-day stamp to tell them to forget it, I don't want it and save the money?...because if they will not grant me a 30 day extension, I'll have to spend 2000 on a visa run.

As soon as you apply for an extension you pay the ฿1,900. There is no refund under any circumstances: you may get 30 days, 7 days or even less, but what they give you is what you get and it is non-negotiable.

You know of people that got less than 7 days?

Yes, in the past but not since a long time ago and not in this latest wave.

Regardless, I think you are concerning yourself too much.

The strong likelihood is that they will give you 30 days anyway.

Just go for it and good luck... :o

I know I'm sounding cautious, but I have to consider that there is two of us. I'm living here with my Filipino girlfriend who also requires the extension. She's only 18, so they might be wondering why a young lady is staying in Thailand so long (we've been in Thailand for about 7 or the last 8 months already).

As obviously I'm paying the lot, it's a 3800 baht gamble.

Thanks for your input!
