Police Lieutenant Colonel Sutum from Pattaya Police Station received an urgent call to attend the View Talay 2 Condominium Building A on Thursday Night after receiving information of a foreign man who was threatening to jump from the 7th Floor. Police approached the desperate man, Mr. Darren MacDonald aged 27 from Scotland who perched himself on a ledge. Eventually he was persuaded to come away from the edge and was handcuffed by Police for his own safety. He was taken to Dongtan Police sub-station on Jomtien Beach where he explained that he had been in Thailand for a month. On his last trip to Thailand he had met a woman who he fell in love with, however he became ill upon his return to Scotland and medical tests revealed the presence of a Sexually transmitted disease. He returned to Thailand and attempted to put the episode behind him but constant worries about his medical condition and depleted funds led to this desperate act. This Scottish gentleman requires medical help. It is also worth mentioning that the small print of many travel visa application forms, require the signatory to guarantee that he/she is of sound mind and has had no pre-existing history of mental health problems.
