Smuggled goods worth Bt100m seized

BANGKOK: -- Bt100m bahts worth of goods have been seized by the Customs Department after being smuggled into the country to evade tax. The goods were discovered in two trucks in Chachoengsao’s Bang Pakong district. The drivers of the two trucks were arrested, they have been named as Banjong Saengpong, 48 and Chang Thinkhamcherd, 45.

The pair have been charged with smuggling goods into the Kingdom with the purpose of avoiding paying tax, a crime punishable with a fine of four times the value of the goods and or up to 10 years in jail.

The duo confessed to picking up the goods, that include car accessories, clothes, bags, sports equipment and cell phones from a warehouse in Chachoengsao, they were planning on delivering them to a location in the Rama II area of Bangkok, from there they would receive instructions.

Now the department is trying to establish who is behind the smuggling and believe the goods were sent to the country in dribs and drabs to avoid detection. Two people are currently under suspicion.

As usual it's only the mules that get caught... No doubt the seized goods will be "sold" to the highest bidder...

If customs police had followed the drivers, then they could have had a better result. I guess they are too scared to do that, just in case the smugglers are connected..coffee1.gif

This is really smart. Arrest the delivery guys and announce it to the world Then hope you can find the guys they where going to deliver it to

Who hired these keystone cops Let the goods go through. Follow the goods to the final destination in a covert way and make some decent arrests

Geee they don't get it
