Turkey 'shoots down' warplane near Syrian-Turkish border

Assad is a piece of crap but it was not his actions that brought about DAESH. This is the fantasy tale they tell you in the media. Dig just a bit deeper. It is a contrived proxy war and Russia called the bluff of behalf of Iran and Syria. Have little use for any of them, but they did not start this.

Normally not a fan of fox but this clip is quite telling. A look at the map where the plane was shot down, the area Turkey says was violated, and the sped in which the plane was acquired and taken out, clearly demonstrate intent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pX2niLwNjX4

There was Turkish intent, yes. Absolutely so.

Erdogan has been unmistakable about Russian planes bombing at the border and overflying the border. Erdogan has been repeatedly and consistently vocal about it since the Russian bombing began several weeks ago. Erdogan said not to overfly in Turkish air space....he said it again and again and again.

Turkey Air Force F-16s were in the area watching, waiting, at the ready.

Boom.

Probably the first time (Allah willing) Vladimir Putin got a good swift kick in the balls from anyone. Erdogan of all people. clap2.gif

Can't trust anyone these days. wink.png

Erdogan is backpedaling now. Obviously NATO just reamed him out.

Hey Harsh, howyoudoin?

Your link does not mention Nato. Your post independently inserts a fantasy about Nato in to it.

Erdogan is a politician so he shoots out of both sides of his mouth.

Your link is to France 24. Erdogan told France 24 he would have acted differently. He said nothing more or less. Which leaves a lot to the listener. Which also means you're trying to make the most of it. Bon chance.

This post cites CNN which says Erdogan gave it an exclusive interview Thursday Turkey time.

Turkey won't apologize for downing Russian warplane, Erdogan says

Turkey will not apologize for downing a Russian fighter jet it says violated Turkish airspace near the Syrian border, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in an exclusive CNN interview Thursday in Ankara.

"I think if there is a party that needs to apologize, it is not us," he said from the Turkish capital. "Those who violated our airspace are the ones who need to apologize. Our pilots and our armed forces, they simply fulfilled their duties, which consisted of responding to ... violations of the rules of engagement. I think this is the essence."

In a meeting with community leaders in Ankara, Erdogan said, "If the same violation occurs today, Turkey has to react the same way."

Seems identifying these planes isn't easy. Even Russia couldn't identify a US plane. Wow. RT comes in handy at times! LOL

https://www.rt.com/news/318654-su-30-incident-us-syria/

Show me your ID: Russian Sukhoi Su-30 gets near US jet over Syria for identification

Russia’s Defense Ministry says a Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jet providing air escort for assault groups in Syria had to approach a US plane to establish visual contact with it. The incident on October 10 was not aimed at scaring off the US aircraft.

2 ex Nato commanders are on the record saying that it was an act of aggression by Turkey. Erdogan made the statement after there was a meeting between Nato and Turkey. I put 2 and 2 together. Just speculation on my part.

Top NATO general: Russians starting to build air defense bubble over Syria

While Russia’s stated goal in moving into Syria is to fight the Islamic State, NATO’s top commander believes Russia’s new presence includes the first pieces of an intricate layer of defensive systems deployed to hinder U.S. and coalition operations in the region.

While Russia’s stated goal in moving into Syria is to fight the Islamic State, NATO’s top commander believes Russia’s new presence includes the first pieces of an intricate layer of defensive systems deployed to hinder U.S. and coalition operations in the region.

NATO's supreme commander Gen. P. Breedlove didn't forget the technical capabilities of Russian military defense equipment that was used against the USS Donald Cook in the Black Sea on 10 April 2014.

The purpose was a US demonstration of force, same same like OP.

Russia sent an unarmed bomber Su-24 (same same like OP) to fly around the U.S. destroyer. However, experts say that this plane was equipped with the latest Russian electronic warfare complex. According to this version, Aegis spotted from afar the approaching aircraft, and sounded alarm. Everything went normally, and the American radars calculated the speed of the approaching target. But suddenly all the screens went blank. Aegis was not working any more, and the rockets could not get target information. Meanwhile, Su-24 flew over the deck of the destroyer, did battle turn and simulated a missile attack on the target. Then it turned and repeated the maneuver. And did so 12 times.

Erdogan will face the same technical military outdated issues if he continues. Moreover he is already previledged to see a Russian missile destroyer advancing to the Turkish coastline. If Erdogan continues his F-16 aircraft radar system will be jammed and will see a S-400 from close...

It's time for Turkey and NATO to open the diplomatic suitcase...

Just read the news that Russia has finally joined the US led Coalition.

Smart move for Mr. Putin....and now will be able to operate a bit more safely. Lets see if Turkey cooperates in the future...or not.

Interesting…given that both the coalition and putin came to syria for different reasons….have those been straightened out?

Indeed.

The link at the end of the guy's post is about Nato and Syria. The tall tale in the middle of the post is undocumented, not cited, unsourced. The post opens with Nato and Syria, closes with Nato and Syria, while inserting the floating tall tale in between.

The USS Donald Cook DDG 75 Aegis guided missile destroyer was in the Black Sea on the date. it was buzzed 12 times by a Russian Air Force Su-24 which is the same jet fighter the US F-16 of the Turkey Air Force blew out of the sky. The same plane. Here's the Cook approaching the Dardanelles Strait on course to the Black Sea where the buzzing occurred days later.

ddg74blacksea.jpg?resize=625%2C446

Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Donald Cook (DDG-75) transits the Dardanelles en route to the Black Sea. US Navy Photo

The USS Cook is part the COMDESRON SIX ZERO destroyer force of the US 6th Naval Fleet based in Naples, Italy. USS Cook is stationed at Naval Base Rota, Spain. It has 48 Tomahawk cruise missiles on regular patrol, 86 Tomahawks on combat missions, 46 defense missiles for use against attackers. In the Black Sea the Cook did exercises with the Romanian Navy.

USS Cook was greeted on arrival in the port of Constanta, Romania by President Traian Bsescu who also toured the ship. The Cook was accompanied by the frigate USS Taylor USSG 50.

Cook is capable to identify, track and hit 100 targets simultaneously.

Here's a stock shot of a Russian Su-24 that still flies by the grace of the US Navy.

Some people say the vintage 1979 Su 24 might be a big clunker.

The link says nothing as does the post.

As I've posted before, 2 ballistic missiles were heading to Damascus and were neutralised with 2 different advanced defense technologies.

This poster has entirely refuted and disproved this wild tale that the two missiles were US missiles fired at Damascus from (Rota Naval Station in) Spain, which is a Spanish base used by elements of the US 6th Naval Fleet (which is based in Naples, Italy). Moscow confirmed the two missiles found to have been fired as a test by Israel fell harmlessly into the sea. This poster has documented this to this thread.

The Israeli missile test occurred during the US naval and air forces buildup after Assad had been discovered to have used chemical weapons. Everyone agreed PM Netyanhu, who said it was a long-scheduled missile defense system test, was a nutcase for having fired the two missiles at that time. Washington immediately covered for Netanyahu by saying it had participated in the test, which it did shortly after US Navy identified the test and its US Sparrow defensive missiles Israel has that were fired.

Sparrow defense missiles. Fired by Israel.

Russia has no new Battlestar Galactica type technology to execute the claims made in your posts. Russia does have sophisticated air defense technologies which are untested in battle. Recall the Iraqi army in 1991 was fully equipped by the then Soviet Union from boots to tanks to the Iraq air defense system the US penetrated like a hot knife through soft butter.

The websites that report this magical stuff are the same websites that present various and numerous conspiracy theories and other wild stories. But then again, how can one call it a conspiracy theory when it is a conspiracy fact. laugh.png

Turkey does need any invitation for exterminating cockroaches few miles away from its borders in its backyard.

And Turkey does not need any permission to attack Isis too.

Keep in mind, it is Turks living there on those lands, not any other country you counted, for a millenium and it had right to protect its national security.

This is a new development :

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/11/26/us-turkey-media-syria-idUSKBN0TF2CI20151126

The newspaper had published footage that purported to show the state intelligence agency helping send weapons to Syria, and of course, the Islamofascist thugs of AKP were incensed at this; and vowed to take revenge on this newspaper. Now, two journalists have been arrested and will possibly be sentenced to jail (AKP has a lot of control on the judiciary system now; just like they do on other crucial units of the country).

Horrible times for my country :( To be honest, I have little hope for the future of Turkey. Things will get worse before they get any better.

This is what happens 99 percent of the time when political Islam is tolerated. Not only nationalists but also some liberals have blood and shame in their hands for sometimes assisting and even colluding with Islamists.

Indeed, Turkey does not need an invitation. In fact, where one is lacking, they provide there own. Lets not forget a few years ago a top official was caught on the phone revealing the plan to use Turkish saboteurs to bomb a shrine/historical site in Syria which Turkey arguably had a claim. This was to be done to provide pretext to intervene. Afterwards, Youtube, FB or such was banned to prevent the leakage from going mainstream; too late. Turkey attacked the Russian plane because the Russians are bombing IS. It is that simple. Turkey has consistently been the prime local enabler of IS and any who look closely will see this.

i dont know anything about bombing a shrine and it is not related with the topic and source please?

you get things totally wrong. just try took from a larger perspective away from your prejudices.

it is russia using Isis as a political trump card to stay in that region by using the fears of millions or countries like france, usa etc.

it is also russia providing financial support by buying oil from isis.

russia never cares about isis and they will not let isis go. bc isis provides russia a claim to be in syria.

if we talk about an enabler it is russia.

they bomb forces against isis and Assad a lot more than isis. they say only 20% of russian bombings are towards isis and rest went to other forces fighting with Assad and isis.

russia intruded nato airspaces 400 times during 2014!

just old cold war tactics by Putin Russia.

and it is the first russian jet downed by a nato member for 66 years from the beginning of nato.

and just for that kudos for turks as this will stop russian aggression towards nato countries or any other country.

Horrible times for my country sad.png To be honest, I have little hope for the future of Turkey. Things will get worse before they get any better.

This is what happens 99 percent of the time when political Islam is tolerated. Not only nationalists but also some liberals have blood and shame in their hands for sometimes assisting and even colluding with Islamists.

<deleted> akp and their politics. totally agree with you but those arms were going to turkmen forces not isis

do you agree russia to perform aggression and intrude and disrespect the national sovereignty of another country?

you are saying erdogan and akp are islamofascist which you are right but what about Putin? isnt he another fascist and tyrant but just a christian one? all newspapers are under iron fist of putin in russia. you say one word to putin and you are in jail. things are a lot worse in russia than turkey in terms of freedom of speech or human rights believe me.

so are you ok for such violation of turkish airspace or any other airspace by a dangerous fascist and tyrant?

You're not entirely wrong, but neither are you right ;) The perfect state or perfect leader does not exist, so we just have to put up with whatever happens to float to the top of the cesspool of politics. Mere mortals like ourselves can only read the reports (hopefully from a wide range of sources) and pass comment in forums such as this, but the chances of any of us being able to actually DO anything are so remote as to be negligible.

From the link.....

Sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, stressed that the suspension of the Turkish jetfighters’ participation in the U.S.-led military operations against ISIL was in fact a mutual decision taken with Russia, which also halted its aerial campaigns near the Turkish border. Both parties will continue to be as careful as possible in a bid to avoid a repetition of such incidents until they re-establish dialogue channels to reduce the tension. (emphasis added)

So Erdogan the intense Muslim leader of Turkey has just showed the world what a swift kick to Putin's balls will do to get the mite's attention.

Putin doubling over and plunging backwards knocked his chessboard on the floor and flung its pieces flying in all directions. Putin really has to think more before barging out in to the wild.

You do know the photo with the linked article is of the F-16 fighter jet.....

A nasty bird.

It is best that Putin and Erdogan remove themselves from border actions given that escalation is especially dangerous. Turkey is being wise not to give the Russians targets over Syria which would be Turkish Air Force F-16s. De-escalation is what is occurring here between Russia and Turkey. The more de-escalation there is between these two the better, because France is stepping it up while trying to bring in as many others as possible.

French and German media report that France might consider using the Syrian army to ISIS and any terrorists in Syria. So we would have no France, Germany, Russia, the US as long it goes against ISIS. Turkey looks like not part of the coalition and is not invited.

Turkey does need any invitation for exterminating cockroaches few miles away from its borders in its backyard.

And Turkey does not need any permission to attack Isis too.

Keep in mind, it is Turks living there on those lands, not any other country you counted, for a millenium and it had right to protect its national security.

Turkey is buying ISIS oil. Russia is home to the biggest oil company on the planet so I don't think oil importing is high on their agenda list.

Turkey and Erdogan are insane. Simply crazy. They were making all these deals with Russia and then they do this. It means that Turkey cares more about its ISIS connections then its deals with Russia. One cannot brush over or dismiss criticism of Putin quite so lightly or glibly.

Putin has much too much to account for. He has opponents murdered right outside the Kremlin for instance.

Don't like Erdogan at all but gotta shake his hand for giving the mite Putin a swift kick to the nuts. It got Erdogan what he wanted at his country's border. It demonstrated how best to handle the mite in Moscow.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend" is the policy of politicians who have no moral independence, only rely on the tide running their way. Look at the trouble such policies have wreaked over the years. The mistakes of history are a lesson to be learned, not repeated.

These are also creates problems for russia.

If they cant sell their gas to turkey which is russia's number two customer after germany. Where will they sell those gas if not turkey? Economy in russia sucks now and they need that money from turkey which is like 10s of billions dollars.

Moreover, I am against any nuclear reactor so hope it is cancelled still russia is not doing it for free! They will sell electricty to turkish government at high prices which is the part of the deal and they do it to earn money not for charity!

And turkey was the one of the rare countries that was selling agricultural products to russia due to the embargo of west so both countries lose and actually russia loses more.

I don't think Russia needs to money from Turkey. It's the same as the US they can keep printing money and sell bonds to the Chinese.

Today was an interesting news item in Xinhua of possible sending ships to the Mideast so I guess the Chinese too might soon be on board as they also fight terrorism which are all Turkmens.

Its amazing how the US once controlled the whole Mideast and now you see the Chinese and Russians getting involved.

Turkey is part of NATO but they are some how irrelevant.

Turkey is only in NATO so that the west can have some control over what those Muslims are up too. If the Russians would shot down 5 Turkish F16 jets, NATO would still say lets all talk to each other because Russia is not Iraq, Libya or Afghanistan.

If I would be Russia, I would as next cut off all gas to Turkey if they even would say beep.
