When I have a big problem these days, a Thai girl is usually the root cause of it so I discuss it with her. In some cases a few years back it involved a court case involving a large property. In another case a serious medical issue. All in Thai. Not boring.

As far as my personal 'mental stimulation' these days it involves international diplomatic treaties at the UN in New York and Geneva, the EU Single Market, and a couple of Court cases in the US at the Appellate and Supreme Court level. Most people in the US don't know about it or would be able to discuss it so I certainly would not expect a Thai girl to be able go discuss it whether she speaks English or not.

I never have problems with Thai girls. They're not as clever as they think they are. The tricky ones generally show their hand early and often so it's easy to steer clear of them, or manipulate them by leading them to believe they're fooling you.

I see -- I was not talking about 'where to go out for dinner' type problems. Court case involving significant property. Severe illness. These things happen in life no matter where you are. However, glad hear that you have a life without any such problems.

After 21 years, three relationships and over 50 pay for play adventures I seriously think if you are looking for a deep meaningful relationship, then a Thai woman is unlikely to provide one. There are exceptions of course but most are shallow, illogical, greedy and after a time very boring. Makes no difference if they are hi so or from Issan.

It is one of the things that gets to me on these threads. Why do they have to speak English? If they were living in England that would be expected, but here we are talking about living in Thailand. A number of posters go on and on about their girlfriends/wives being able to communicate well in English blah blah. But if those posters live here, they should not be demeaning or disparaging others' wives who speak little or no English or those foreigners who married them. They should learn the bloody language of the country within which they live. To me it does not reflect at all well on those posters. Are they even trying to fit in? Are they so lazy they cannot be bothered to learn the language?

True love? That terms seems almost humorous when mentioned on TV. A true relationship takes many forms. Male-female relationships are quite similar to any business or contractual relationship. Although it may be preferable to some to have an emotional offer reciprocated, an offer of assets can also be lasting. It depends greatly upon what each partner is willing to offer and accept.

True love, that sounds funny, like an adult saying i believe in father Christmas. I have an extremely good relationship with my partner of 10 years and we have a son aged 8, she can't speak English but i can speak Thai and my son speaks both languages. Our age difference is 27 years and even though we get on very well i would laugh at anyone saying we are in love.
