BANGKOK: -- Bangkok police charged a teen gang "Golden Temple" yesterday over a murder on Sunday in which the victim was robbed of his iPad and stabbed to death when he fought back.

Police yesterday detained Patcharapong Saengduen, 19, at his home in Bang Sue district along with nine teenage boys aged 15-17 of the “Golden Temple” gang, after CCTV footage from the crime scene pointed to Patcharapong, whom police recognized from a previous case.

In the CCTV footage which has gone viral, Somchai Sa-artchit, a 28-year-old worker at S&P bakery in Shinawatra Tower II, was seen sitting on a staircase outside the building with his iPad. Three men robbed him of his tablet and when he fought back they stabbed him to death.

How long have you been here? He's looking at 5 years - MAX - with time off for "good behavior". He'll be lucky if he does 3 years.

plenty of free time now for these youngsters time to band together and go out robbing and stabbing people time to go out shooting other bands I do hope the government are taking note because this is what happens when you give young people too much free time get them back to school give them something worthwhile to do please before it gets worse ..

These guys only murdered a young man while stealing his IPad. You are more likely to receive a hefty sentence if you have a few grams of coke in your possession or pick a few mushrooms in a national forest.

Thailand definitely has its priorities right.

Someone successfully robbed a bank branch opposite a police station recently too I believe.....

Even the Thai people seem to have figured out their police force are inept at best.... Lol

I have always thought using a tablet in public places and expensive apple phones taking selfies was an invite to thieves, unfortunately.

Good work from Thai police, hope they jail this lot for a long time.

Where do you thing the BIG Boys get their assassins and debt collectors from if not from the up and coming smaller Big Boys from the Street Gangs. That is why they are no real hefty sentences and the monkeys houses ,all over the world , not only in the Land of Smiles, are the best teaching institutions for crime there are .Let them pass a few grades, expand their networks and if the can walk without looking looking like John Wayne walking from the rear then let them out to put into practice what they have learnt. Besides they will always owe somebody for something.

Be buggered if i can offer an idea how to make it better - it is just the way it is.
