I am sure that I am not the only on to notice that most Thai actors have sprayed on mustaches (not the actresses of course). Does anyone know the reason for this? Maybe it is a show of masculinity as I have not noticed the ladyboy actors having mustaches.

There's an old French saying: kissing a man without a mustache is like eating an egg without salt.

That may explain it.

There is another Old French saying " fake is the new trend and everyone seems to be instyle!"

You openly admit to watching Thai soaps that closely...........

You can only appreciate how bad they are when you watch them, plus I have to keep wifey happy and let her watch them, especially to be in for a chance to get my nightly rewards.

You learn a lot about Thai culture by watching them.

Language also.

That alone justify 2 daily hours.

The moustaches are there to help the audience distinguish between the different roles portrayed. If the actor has a moustache and a sinister unnatural laugh then they are obviously the evil villain. Often they also wear a black shirt to aid the audience's understanding of the complexities in the plot.

I am so glad you explained it.

Still can't believe you watch it...

Must have a new gf you are trying to impress.

I have been here over four years and I am still trying to understand why my wife finds the comedy soaps so funny, thats why I am taking her to see Snow White and her Little Friends in the UK in about 3 weeks time to see if she appreciates the English comedy panto like she appreciates the Thai (panto style) comedy (it could end up embarasment for me if she is laughing more than the English children) but as long as she enjoys it, I can always go to the bar.
