2nd entry on double entry tourist VISA trouble

Featured Replies

Hi, i had to reenter in the country before Dec 2nd but I did not do it.

I go to Mae Sai ( Myanmar boarder ) tomorrow, is there anything I can do to have my 2nd entry or is it just impossible ?

Thanks

If the 'enter before' date on the visa was Dec 2nd then unfortunately the second entry is lost.

Have you already extended the first entry by 30 days?

If you don't have a valid visa you should use another border as Mae Sai will not allow OUT/IN visa exempt entry.

Yes i have already extended the first visa.

In Mae Sai, will they allow me to come back in Thailand for 1 or 2 weeks ?

You will not be allowed to leave the country at Mae Sai unless you have a valid visa for re-entry.

You should go to the Chiang Khong crossing where you could cross and get a 15 day visa exempt entry unless you are from a G7 country that would allow a 30 day entry.

And is it possible to have an extension of like 7 days in Chiang Mai imigration ? I'm already in overstay 1 day and if i go Vientiane tomorrow i will not have a new visa before monday because immigration is close on the weekend ( and i don't want to stay in Vientiane for 5/6 days or pay too much for overstay ).

Thanks

It might be possible to get an extra 7 days (1,900 baht), but I'd never recommend anyone to walk in to an immigration office on an overstay that doesn't qualify for an extension of stay.

As suggested by ubonjoe you could go to Chiang Khong and get a 15/30 day visa exempt entry. That entry can also be extended by 30 days if needed. That would give you time to organise a trip to Laos for a new single entry tourist visa.

If you went to Vientiane you would not be able to apply for a visa until the 11th. They are are closed from today until then. The consulate in Savannakhet will be open. But they will be closed the 7th and 10th.

I think your best choice is to go to Chiang Kong for a visa exempt entry.

Do you know if i can make a 1 day trip to Chiang Kong from Chiang Mai or if i have to stay one night there ?

whistling.gif If your "Must enter before date" is 2 December on your original double entry visa you will NOT get a 2nd entry on that visa because that visa expired at Midnight on 2 December and no more entries are now possible.

As was stated you can get a visa exempt 15/ 30 day entry depending on your nationality and if you are a G-7 country National.

You waited one day to long and the show is already over,.
