Are there currently any restrictions with regards to the amount of times you are allowed to make use of the 30 day visa exempt rule when arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport?

No "restriction" but if there are 6 or more visa exempt stamps in the passport be prepared to be questioned by the Immigration Officers who will want to know what you are doing in Thailand.

It is usually best to have an appropriate visa if making frequent visits.
