URGENT! VIENTIANE Consulate CLOSED December 4-13

Just got back from the Thai Consulate in Vientiane (with my passport and visa application still in my hand). They accept applications today, and will happily hold people's passports for 10 days. All those not astute enough to read the closed sign posted will be in for a special surprise tomorow..

For those of you looking to go to the Vientiane Consulate for a Thai Visa, you'll need to go elsewhere (like Savannakhet) since the consulate will be closed December 4-13. It opens again Monday the 14th. Savanakkhet is closed on December 7 and 10, and is open every other day until the end of the year (except weekends). Note that unless you are workingin Laos, you can only get a single entry visa from Savannakhet

To help lighten the mood - just as I was leaving, I saw a tourist arguing with the officer.. "but your website didn't list the holiday". TIT
