Treatment for facial spasm and twitching eye lid

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of any good hospitals or clinics in Bangkok or Pattaya with good track records on treating facial spasm and twitching eye lid ?

Better still, any alternative medicine ?

How successful treatment will be, will depend on the underlying cause. Which I take it has not yet been diagnosed?

Is it just on one side of the face? And how old are you?

Hospitals and clinics don't have track records, individual doctors do. And in any event this is well beyond what can be managed in a clinic.

You need to start with a neurologist specializing in facial palsies. Some diagnostic tests will be necessary to rule out systemic causes as opposed to an issue with the facial nerves. if it is just a facial nerve issue, botox injections can often be effective. There are also some medications that may help. But it is essential to rule out such possble underlying conditions as early multiple sclerosis or facial tumor.

I suggest any of the following doctors:

Prof. Apichart Pisarnpong at Bangkok Hospital http://www.bangkokhospital.com/index.php/en/find-a-doctor (they have revised their website such that it no longer gives adequate info - can get a full CV for him at http://www.bangkokhospital.com/huahin/en/doctors/?DrID=557. US trained))

Prof. Kammant Phanthumchinda at either Sukhumvit Hospital (Saturday mornings only http://www.sukumvithospital.com/en_doctorprofile.php?id=183) or through the Chulalongkhorn University Hospital "after hours clinic"

Dr. Orapan Sitburana at Bumrungrad https://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Oraporn-Sitburana

Thanks for the detailed information, Sheryl.

I plan to bring my elder sibling who is in her 50s. It's one side of the face and you are right that diagnostic tests should first be conducted to rule out systematic causes.
