Former head of Peruvian football arrested in FIFA probe

LIMA, Peru (AP) — The former head of the Peruvian football federation, Manuel Burga, has been arrested in the growing FIFA bribery probe.

Local television aired images of Burga's home surrounded by at least four police cars during his Friday night arrest.

Police spokeswoman Veronica Marquez said Saturday that Burga, who headed the Peruvian federation from 2002-2014, was taken to judicial police headquarters in Lima.

Interior Minister Jose Perez said the United States wants to extradite Burga to face corruption charges. Burga denied the allegations as he was taken away, saying he had not received "a single bribe."

U.S. authorities on Thursday accused Burga and 15 other FIFA officials in the investigation.

Guatemalan judge Hector Trujillo is charged with racketeering in the case. He was arrested Friday aboard a cruise ship at Port Canaveral, Florida.

Don't see anyone complaining about the USA being the world policeman when it comes to cleaning up FIFA corruption. Every arrest warrant issued by the USA for extradition has been complied with by every country. Prosecution of this kind of corruption seems to be the USA's expertise.
