Not sure I agree. Horribly emaciated things with bones poking out all over the place.

Based upon the video, it would appear that some owners agree, which is why they've covered up their dogs' bodies.

I like a dog I can cuddle without fear of breaking it.

You might want to look up emaciated. This is a genetic trait not someone starving them.

Obesity is a huge problem in dogs that WILL shorten your greyhound's lifespan. Unfortunately fat dogs are everywhere now and we have gotten so used to seeing overweight dogs that most of us prefer not to see bones. About 33 percent of dogs are overweight. Most breeds of dogs are shown slightly overweight so that is what we see on the TV dog shows and is what most people think their dogs should look like. Greyhounds are supposed to look a lot thinner than most other breeds and are never supposed to look like Labradors. If you have a greyhound expect strangers to tell you your greyhound is too thin when it is at the perfect weight.

having been a greyhound owner/trainer for 20yrs.greyhounds do make great pets,AFTER THEY HAVE FINNISHED RACING.

dont forget these are bred to chase and kill their prey, and prone to injury unless there is a flat 500mtr.grass field.

so what the hell is a greyhound breeder doing here.

Thanks for sharing. I am considerin abt adopting a after race retired greyhound. But i am also planning to have kid in the near future in 1-2 years. Would you recommend adopting a greyhound at this point in time? Or should i wait until my kid is school age? Any recommendation is appreciated.

Thanks.

Why deprive yourself of the joy of keeping a dog for several years? And why deprive a dog in need of a good home of one? Of course, you need to be careful. Have a look at this link for good advice.

sorry for the late reply, how old is the dog? normally a retired greyhound [ 5yrs.up] by then they enjoy the quiet life, armchair, cudly toy, treets, and not forgetting a walk.they do love to live indoors with the family,so dont delay get one today.

I emailed my current situation and my concern to people in the after race greyhound adoption center(most of the retired racer are between 2-4 yr old), she also suggest me getting one later after i have kids, during the mean time, she recommended some books for me to read so that i will know more about greyhound:
