pharmacy where i have been geting tramodol was told by distributor that tramodol will no longer be available.

has any one heard about this?

it apears that they are going to make it available at hospitals only.

State hospitals only.

Tramadol CAN be issued when a pharmacy is connected *supllies* the General Hospital, but ID is required PLUS a registration by the Pharmacy

It is still in pharmacies (but not too many anymore). I am pretty sure (and I think Sheryl will know if this is true) that the drug was reclassified and now pharmacies are "supposed" to have a licensed pharmacist on duty and record the individuals personal information. Obviously, most pharmacies will not want to waste their time and effort with a drug that sells for 40 baht per strip.

You can still find it in pharmacies as Ultracet (Para 325mg and 37.7 Tram - expensive 180THB+), Duocetz (Para 325mg and 37.7 - less expensive 120THB+), or generic 50mg Tram (Matradol 30THB+). My local pharmacy stopped carrying it because it requires a trained pharmacist to be on duty and you have to (legally) sign for it, but it's still very available OTC. However, many pharmacies have stopped carrying it because of the hassle. But it's out there. Spend a day cruising pharmacies where you live. Ask using the brand names above starting from the cheapest. I've found that Duocetz is still pretty widely available and I'll occasionally stumble across a pharmacy that still stocks 50mg Tramadol capsules (like Matradol), but they are by far the most difficult to find.

I can confirm I brought 3 strips over the last 3 weeks in Pattaya from my usual pharmacy who "know" my face. Deliberately I went in 3 Pharmacies who didn't know me and it was "cannot sir" immediately in all 3.

They were only 50mg tabs though I purchased

Absolutely moronic response to a non-problem. Tramadol does not make you high or give you any sort of "thrill". It simply (and effectively) alleviates pain. It is non-addictive and was my US doctor's alternative to back surgery. I retired here to find it virtually unavailable until recently. As noted by other posters, it is randomly available now at many pharmacies. Some require you to sign, others don't. The Thais are mirroring the hysterical USA response to all manner of drugs, both OTC and prescription. I wish SOME country had the cojones to tell the USA to stuff its drug laws and banking laws and mind its own business.bah.gifangry.gif

Oh, whatever, take the tinfoil hat off. Uncle Sam isn't telling the Thais what to do. Given the rhetoric in the news, the U.S. has the least amount of influence on Thailand now than it has had since WWII's end.

The Thais are clamping down on everything themselves, and, if anything, are mirroring the Orwellian nature of their new overlord up north.

just let the Thai. pharmaceutical companies make it and sell it.

just because a couple of stupid kids over dosed mixing it with cola.

why not make knives require a signature, and the big one take cars off the road as they kill people.

oh the never ending stupidity of things people can think up.

why not outlaw paracetamol as like any drug you can overdose on it.

Tramodol is not available now here in Banphai.

I have no problem getting it, as i get mine at the local government hospital.

Also Tramodol is not addictive, i take it when i need it, some days i use some days i dont.

I never feel the need to take it unless i get serious pain.
