House of Representatives given 105 days to finalize its budget spending

BANGKOK, 10 December 2015 (NNT)-The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) has given a 105-day time frame to the House of Representatives to come up with a budget proposal.

The House of Representatives will submit the proposal to the Senate after the 105 day period for consideration. Under the CDC’s command, the deliberation process should not be longer than 20 days.

Even though the House of Representatives is not allowed to raise its spending, it is able to seek permission to lower its loan capital, loan interest rates and other expenses required by laws.

Both members of the House and the Senate have been warned not to take advantage of the budget allocations for their own benefits.

They would be subjected to the Constitutional Court’s probe if found to have abused their power.Meanwhile, the committee in charge of political reform has come up with 6 swift reform paths.

They include having honest politicians, setting up an effective political system, organizing a fair and transparent election, allowing the government to be probed, promoting good political culture and having reconciliation measures in place.

They will force the banks to loan money to the government at zero interest; meaning no added costs.

105 days plus 20 = approved 2016 spending budget in April. I think a little late !

The government Bureau of the Budget has documentation on line. For 2014/2015 there is an English version with details and of course lots of Thai documents.

For 2015/2016 I just saw the bookshelves filled, but only with Thai language documents. No summary yet as for 2014/2015. Pity really

"Both members of the House and the Senate have been warned not to take advantage of the budget allocations for their own benefits."

Pathetic they even have to mention this. So much for corruption crackdown.

They also need to rename House of Representatives.... or add to it: House of Representatives of the Rich and Connected..... sure don't represent average Thai person
