NONTHABURI: An extensive fire, which had ravaged an air-conditioner factory in Nonthaburi's Pak Kred district on Friday night, was put off early yesterday morning but the cause of the blaze was yet to be determined and damage assessment was still ongoing. No death or injury was reported.

The fire broke out at a private company's 10-rai factory in Tambon Bang Phut at 11.30pm and fire-fighters along with 20 fire engines tried to control the blaze at the facility. The fire also caused occasional explosions due to the factory's many flammable materials and LPG gas cylinders. Several cars parked nearby were hit by the blown-out parts. Officials rushed 30 cylinders to a safer spot. The fire was extinguished within four hours.

Goods inspection employee Chakkrit Banhan said he and three co-workers were working at the office while 10 workers were moving air-conditioners from a container in the back of the factory when they noticed flames near the device assembling station. They tried to put out the fire but it spread quickly so they called the police.
