My airport hotel needs a second vehicle that is allowed to enter Phuket Airport to send/collect guests. We already have a green-plated Toyota Wish that is allowed to enter the airport, but are unable to get a second green-plated vehicle, the wonderful vehicle office in Phuket refuses to issue a second green-plate to us... TiT (or TiP).

(If we use a private vehicle to send or collect our guests, then we run a big risk of a fine, confiscation of driver's licence etc - happened several times to us before)

The alternative is to buy a minivan, which doesn't need a green-plate to enter the airport, if it is clearly shown to be a courtesy minivan for a named hotel.

I don't need a large minivan, and was thinking about purchasing one of the old (very old!), Hiace minivans, the sort that seats about 8 people.

Anyone know how much these cost secondhand? I have seen some very low prices (130,000 baht), because they are about 25 years old. But with some smart stickers on the van, this would be fine for our airport service.

These have been to the moon and back twice and probably on LPG as well. Ive seen them around that price at various car outlets but maintenance is gonna cost and realiability wont be there. If your in Phuket, these may have been going to Surat or Krabi and back everyday for 20 years or so, over a million kms

'I have seen some very low prices (130,000 baht), because they are about 25 years old' That must be what their s/h parts value is cos something 25 year old should be at the wreckers yard!

I have one as a toy transporter (pulled all the seats) , used as a local school bus, 240k on the clock, C/O mtr a few years back, alarm, remote locking, sound system, new paint, lolly wrappers jammed everywhere possible, over all GC, 200,000 baht

Look at Kaidee to get a idea of prices, all over the place but TIT laugh.png at the price your indicating also look at E24 Nissan Urvan for 100,000 should be able to get a very clean one otherwise the other option is from TV memberstongue.png favorite country of production a Kia Pregio but of course the downside it will be 15 years newer and drive betterwink.png

Just out of curiosity, are the All Wheel Drive 4th or 5th generation HiAce's available in Thailand? I didn't realize they put out an AWD.

What a great RV conversion those could be.
