BANGKOK, 14 December 2015 (NNT) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand has granted rewards including two free return tickets for the 28 millionth visitor to Thailand, aiming to attract the lucky visitor to return to Thailand in the future.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) Deputy Governor for International Marketing Juthaporn Rerngronasa has led officials from Airports of Thailand, THAI Airways, True Corporation, and the Immigration Bureau to welcome Mr Singh Sundeep Kumar from India along with his family after being the 28 millionth visitor to Thailand.

The lucky visitor was traveling from Singapore to Thailand and intends to stay in Thailand for 7 days. He was given the return tickets for two passengers traveling from the originating country to and from Bangkok, with an additional 5 nights accommodation, and a smartphone equipped with a 4G network plan.

The TAT Deputy Governor has said that the number of visitors to Thailand in 2015 is expected reach 28.8 million persons which meets the designated goal. The number of visitors during the first 10 months this year has increased by 24.75 percent, 60 percent of which are from Asian countries, 30 percent from European and American countries, and from other countries by 10 percent.

She has also mentioned that there have been about 1 million visitors from India to Thailand throughout the year.

Has everyone noticed it is NEVER someone that has just done his visa run.

Everything here is done for Photo ops only---self promotion---(facebook style)

Uniformed officials--Police pointing--and the rest.

I imagine the police officer is just a little miffed his face was not in the picture at such an important presentation.

Just may be the case they could spell correctly as well !

Imagine my happiness then when an English native don't spell correctly, then I'm in the clear when failing to do so. Not to mention the grammar... passifier.gif

What an amazing piece of management coordination by TAT,...

28.8m visitors per year is 78,904 per day

which is 3,287 per hour

which is 55 per minute

so nearly 1 per second .. all spread over multiple points of entry across the LOS, so to know that this guy was the 28 millionth is very reassuring. Nice to know that we are all so highly valued and counted. so carefully.

Would be interesting to know how many leave, and the difference would be the number that don't make it out alive...

No way you could have been the 28 millionth, unless cousin Somchai pulled you aside at immigration and asked you to stand in for him and receive his gifts.

How many more can they ' squeeze ' in for a New Year's Eve presentation farce ?

I think that could get at least another 5,000 onto Pattaya Beach at 7:00 in the morning. I'm sure I have seen some vacant sand. That will mean another 200 speed boat rides a day, and another 1,250 kg per day of rubbish to get rid of, and at least say 10,000 hard-earned baht into the coffers.

It must be worth it. TAT says so.

I hope this Indian couple have been advised not to hire a jetski or stay in high rise buildings otherwise they might become another kind of statistic.whistling.gif

Its a shame the 28th million tourist wasnt an old farang on a Silver Fox tour to Pattayawai.gifwai.gif

NOTE.....the 28th million tourist probably was an old farang bar monger wearing nothing but underpants and a singlet so they by-passed him and went for the better dressed Indian couple one of whom appears to be wearing cargo shorts or camo trousers.

Stay classy Thailand !
