PATTAYA: -- On Sunday evening a Pattaya Police Officer was seriously hurt during a drug sting operation which took place in Central Pattaya.

Police Senior Sergeant Major Chinapan sustained 5 broken ribs, a large cut to his face and a lacerated liver which required emergency surgery. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and was visited by the Pattaya Police Chief, Police Colonel Sukthat, on Sunday Night, as he was preparing for his life-saving operation.

The Police operation took place in Soi Yumet, close to Big C Xtra off the Central Pattaya Road and involved the officer making an attempt to purchase class 1 drugs from a suspected drug dealer. The deal was completed and other officers moved in but the suspected dealer realized he was involved in a Police Operation and attempted to escape on his motorbike.

The injured officer hung on to the back of the suspects bike as he attempted to leave and was dragged for approximately 10 meters along the road.

He was doing his job. Unlike so many other police who would let the perp go after a few hundred baht "tip". I wish this policeman a speedy recovery.

And do you have personal knowledge he wasn't planting the tiny bag on him in order to extort a bribe from him? After all, it would explain why he would risk his life hanging onto the bike if the rider was taking off with the officer's valuable bait. How naive you are.

The drug pest gets worse and worse.

In our upcountry village more and more run-down teenagers skipping school, petty crime of all type.

Aggressive motorcycle racing up and down.

Throwing stones at a car whose driver honked at them.

No more idyllic country scene.

Every respect for the officers who risk their life to catch these scumbags.

There was a time in Thailand when he would have been shot down when trying to flee.

All this for a 1g bag of meth. Words are not much use here........

It was not the bag of meth...

It was the Scum Bag who selling it, and how many bags has the Scum Bag sold... every thousand = 1Kg.

I hope they hammer him hard for resisting arrest and for causing grievous bodily harm to a officer of the law.

The usual semi-literates need to read the OP properly. It's not difficult.

This was a sting to arrest a known dealer and the deal had already been completed when the attempt to arrest the dealer was made. He realised he had been caught so he made a run for it on his bike and when eventually stopped the other 1g was found. This was not about someone being arrested for possession of 1g.

The drugs are just a symptom like the anti-social behavior, the actual problem is societal.
