Swiss man arrested with bullets at Phuket airport

That news story does not say he admitted to packing the ammunition

This wording sounds like he did (to me):

When asked by police if he had a permit to carry the ammunition, Mr Andre said that he didn’t

My conspiracy theory:

they all look so relaxed as if they agreed to make a nice story to demonstrate the effectiveness of the "ramped up security".

The Swiss got a free escort to his hotel for the photo biggrin.png

No Swiss is so dumb to carry ammunition to Thailand.

I know because I am Swiss tongue.png

Are you sure you're not Thai? Sounds like Thai logic you're using.

Did he admit it was his ammunition?

Or is the year old Philippine Scam getting a foot hold in Thailand?

Rather odd how often this happen in the last few months here in

Thailand, whilst before we never heard about, it apart from the

scam in the Philippines.

That news story does not say he admitted to packing the ammunition. Lot more to this news story than meets the casual reporting.

Actually he has rather an astounded look of disbelief on his face. Could he be a victim of now you see them now you don't game.

Well, the look of the tourist police to the far right is priceless. giggle.gif

I have owned pistols as a member of numerous pistol clubs over the years and I don't know anyone that would carry one mag with two rounds in it, you just wouldn't do it.

Also isn't the Sig 9mm the standard issue now for the RTP???

RTP doesn't have a standard issue. Each officer buys whichever pistol he likes.

Besides, in the OP it says the guy admitted he didn't have a permit, but says nothing about him saying it wasn't his. Another point is, that once it gets published as it was, it is all official and doesn't appear (to me) to be a scam. The idea of a scam is you get caught, and you are given the option to pay under the table INSTEAD of going through the official way.

I don't know for sure - can't be bothered googling it - but I am quiet certain it would be illegal in most (if not all) countries (Daesh controlled territories might be excluded...) to travel in / out of the country with weapons and / OR munition.

There are a couple of links in this thread about such arrests in India. Would you be kind enough to give it a go at the US of A? Just to check for us TVF's it the results would be the same???

I suspect the accused didn't get a chance to edit the headline.

Do you not think many discussions, questions and answers are not listed in this article?

How Dumb cane some of you get. There is much more to this. How many court cases are two questions and two answers.

Yet another shooter who uses his carry on bag as a range bag. (Or so I'm guessing.)

"When asked by police if he had a permit to carry the ammunition, Mr Andre said that he didn’t..."

If it wasn't his ammunition it's very unlikely that that would have been his reply and if he was the subject of a scam he probably would be looking a bit more worried than he is in the photo.

They do have standard issue side arms, if they don't want them they buy their own..

I think you are incorrect. RTP are not supplied side arms. They have to buy their own along with all ammunition. I happen to know as when my nephew-in-law joined the RTP I paid for his side arm as he could only afford his walki-talkie, uniform, cuffs. And he never even got paid (on time) for the first 3 months.

Nope......Depends what cop he is being trained to be...or what you or l are being told, but l had the run down two days ago...

I think the answer is that there is a standard issue gun and that has to be paid for, standard issue doesn't mean it's free. If the officer prefers he doesn't have to take the standard issue, he can buy another type independently.

Well, he did answer to the question if he had a permit. Mr Andre said he didn't ....

what's after the .... might be .... because I didn't have any ammunition when I packed my bag?

Or how would a normal, innocent person answer that question?

Yes, I do have a permit to carry ammunition which is not mine?

I would be more interested in knowing what his answer was to the question.

Where did you get the ammunition from.

For what purpose did you get the ammunition.

As for his look. Well you have your view, I have mine. To me he doesn't look like

"Fck, I been caught, I miss my plane, huge fine, maybe prison". To me he looks more

like, "This is a misunderstanding, nothing to worry it will sort itself out very quickly"

But names, nationalities or looks don't really mean anything.

Doesn't mean he's clever, doesn't mean hi's stupid. Could be one or the other.

my bag,, if i say i'm innocent,, they will say,, prove it.....

What a load of crap,My sister came visit me a few years ago in Australia and took a handful of different size calibre bullets back home to Holland as souvenirs and she had no problem. What is the problem ,you can't use any ammo without a weapon,if there is no weapon why arrest people,If it's illegal just confiscate the ammo and be done with it. thumbsup.gif
