Kersew Saejang was arrested wearing a polo shirt with the tourist police logo. He was also carrying a walkie-talkie and tourist police badge.

PHUKET: -- A hill tribesman from Chiang Rai who carries a non-Thai ID card was arrested in Phuket on Tuesday (Dec 15) when he was found to be impersonating a tourist police officer to receive a discount on the price of accommodation.

A team of tourist police under the command of Col Choosawat Janrojanakit arrested 35-year-old Kersew Saejang on Tuesday in front of a 7Eleven store on Wirat Hongyok Rd in Wichit at 10pm fter being alerted about a suspicion man dressed in a tourist police uniform looking for a place to rent and seeking a discount for being a policeman.

When police arrived they saw Kersew wearing a polo shirt with the tourist police logo. He was also carrying a walkie-talkie and tourist police badge.

Police seized the walkie-talkie, tourist police badge, a charger, handcuffs, three tourist police polo shirts and a metal baton.

The perp invested some money to pull off this scam. I'm sure he was engaged in far worse conduct than just getting discounts. Of course, the tourist police can't allow anyone to cut in on their racket, so his arrest was high priority.

Aren't most "police" here impersonating police?rolleyes.gif

Someone should remind him that he needs to pay to get exclusive membership...

As long as it was asking for a discount and not extorting money I am fine with it. whistling.gif

so next time in case of robbery or assault you will not ask for help from the Thai police, right?
